_1:17 pm_[borntofr4g] Looking for some information resources Hi!For a project in my Environmental Systems class at TCC, I'm doing some research on the Sunland facilities.I need prettymuch just information on the history of the facilities, the reasons for being torn down, etc. I don't need the ghost story/paranormal angle. My group is just working on the ecological aspect (I think that's the right term here) of the facilities.Any help would be most appreciated! (Comment on this)

_6:52 pm_[akanechan13] Demolition Most of you probably have noticed that there are workers going in and out of sunland... they are contractors removing asbestos... it started over a month ago and is probably nearing completion. Anyone looking to go for one last hurrah, I am leaving you with this email warning I received from TPD... the officers name/email is removed to prevent flaming, but I assure you it is real... so please be advised. Just to let you know... this is fair warning. The Tallahassee Police Department will be providing building security at Sunland from today until demolition. We have posted new trespassing signs and officers will be on duty throughout the day and night. It is a FELONY to trespass on a construction site. Currently contractors are removing ASBESTOS from the building. In case you are not aware, asbestos is a carcinogen and easily inhaled. Anyone found trespassing WILL be arrested. I understand the folklore of Sunland, but understand it is a dangerous place to visit and a person trespassing will be arrested. Thank you for your assistance Now , anyone going around the outside and taking pictures to document the demolition, please email me at akanechan982@yahoo.com and I will post them to the website... _9:52 pm_[tranquilityrd] Sunland Stuff Hello.I have been to Sunland a few times now. I took in a team of multi-beliefed individuals; skeptics, believers, non-believers. I am pretty sure we explored nearly every room on every floor (even the room that claimed "if you want to die, go to the end of the hall") :).While we were there, we shot about an hour of footage, tried to collect EVP's and tested for EMF's. Nothing out of the ordinary happened while we were there; no voices, no footsteps..etc. I do believe we may have captured an EVP telling us to "be quiet" and "shhh", but i think, upon further analysis, it will be shown to be something explainable. We did filter it through software to amplify.I am a skeptic, if i see it, i will believe it. However, I will admit I do get an eriee feeling when I get near and go in. There are a few thoughts I have that many of you probably already realize, but I thought I would share:Remember, knowing all the history of the hospital, all the abuse..etc, causes an uneasiness if you go there. Don't let your mind play tricks, be objective. If you go in there hoping to see a ghost, your mind will play tricks on you. Every sound you hear that would be considered normal throughout the day, are much different when you are in an old abandoned "haunted" building. Go in there with no intent on your mind. Dont let things that CAN be explained turn into something that it isnt. It is an old building, it makes noises, it leaks.Anyway, I plan to make another expidition into Sunland. Every trip we make, my team has more equipment to study. I guess we are kinda "ghost hunters", but not really. We are just interested to find out if something really is goin on in there. _8:12 pm_[comikk13] so erm...went to Sunland today with kiera and brittany. i've never felt like it was actually WARM in there before todaY. The entire back has become overgrown in the last month or so, we took a long time trying to get unstuck from thorns :( we looked for the toy shed across the street, and found some weird ruins of what might have been one. finally found the auditorium! I got a pic of me on the half collapsing stage and I was trying to make a banner that says "True talent will take any stage". But my lovely companions and I made a deal that I would bring masks if they would bring flashlights, but not all of that worked out. So we were stuck in the scariest hallway I've seen in quite a bit. Not to mention when i took a wrong turn, ending up in the CREMATORIUM(or at least what looked like one)! *shudder*. Needless to say, we bolted after that, then tried to go outside, but like I said we got stuck in the bushes. we went back into the building, avoiding the hallway at ALL costs, we went around a lit room and then went to the second floor to get the the east side of the building. nothing too creepy happened, but Brittany kept saying there were footsteps behind us. we also found the wallpaper on the ground of a hallway that said something "corner". I thought someone had ripped off the library corner thing, but I saw that intact later...hmm..there was a semi truck in the parking lot, and a small car, didn't see anyone though. found a cool staircase leading past the top floor into this little electrical area that actually looked kinda new....but it was a great lookout point. there was a lot of strange stuff inside, like working gear and bits of wall that looked brand new, just sitting on the floor. twas weird Current Mood: sad (14 Comments |Comment on this)

_6:50 pm_[comikk13] Has anyone been by Sunland recently? I went today just to get some artsy outside shots and I could have sworn it looked shorter. I freaked out at first, thinking they had removed the asbestos and started knocking it down, but I looked harder and all the floors seemed to be there. There seemed to be several tall trees in front of it, making it look shorter. Its only been about a month and a half since I was last there, and I didn't think tree's could spring out of nowhere in that amount of time, especially with no one tending to them. I then thought someone had planted them, but who would bother wasting time and money to go out and plant trees at an abandoned institution? I added a few more pics to the link in the post below, but it is kinda hard to see what I'm talking about. Does anyone know what happened? There was a pickup truck parked near the side of the building, but it was probably just explorers. Also, this may be my supernatural side taking over, but when I was just standing around in the parking lot, something felt really wrong. Like I didn't belong there. I started on the trail across the street to the toy shed, or what I think is the trail to the toy shed, but I wimped out, I didn't want to go alone. PS: Seeing as I've made the only posts since March, I'd say this community is getting dull. Post more people, I need new information for my psychotic obsession. _9:55 pm_[comikk13] Hi. I'm new here. I've been to Tallahasse's Sunland twice. The first time was a short trip in, an hour or so. The second time I got to explore around more. My friend and I had heard that the "haunted toy shed" was across the street, but we thought we saw it out of a window from the main building. I took a picture out of the window of it. When we looked around outside, we couldn't find it.*feels stupid* Are we both blind? Because we couldn't find the shed or the pool. I know its filled with concrete, but something like that is a little hard to miss. *feels stupider*Also, I failed to find the auditorium/stage. Anyone able to help me out with these? Also, there was a baby doll inside the fence. It's eyes were gouged out and there was a rope around its neck. It looked really old. Anyone else seen this? My second trip was about three weeks ago.Has anyone been inside the smaller lab building across the street? This was part of the Sunland Center, right? We hoisted through a back window of that place only to realize there was a door 5 feet down. *feels even more stupid*.Any answers will be appreciated. _9:53 pm_[akanechan13] work + questions hi again :/ i am done for tonight. everything is smaller and i uploaded a few new pix but i havent linked them yet. however i have a question... we are considering making some stuff with our pictures and logos on it... i.e. stickers and buttons and shirts and thongs and mugs and trucker hats and what not. Mainly because we want some. We might make it available to other people if any of you are interested. we wont be charging much over cost, like 1 dollar over our costs basically... so if any of you are interested let me know, and if you have favorite pictures or what not, we can make arrangments heh. _8:21 pm_[akanechan13] busy busy So. As promised, I am actually uplading the smaller size pictures as we speak. And on good faith, Inferno has opened the site back up. Rejoice. Our bandwidth problem is solved for now, i think we can hold 4 times the traffic now because i have made everything in average 1/5 the original size. (many went from 300k to about 60k though some didnt get quite that small)So, i have some other Urban Exploration things to add soon. if anyone has pictures of any other building they have explored, even outside Tally, please send them over! _5:18 pm_[maiden_deth] Hello I'm new to the community and just wanted to say that I've been pretty much obsessed with Sunland ever since some friends of mine and I got up the nerve to actually go inside back in 1998 or so. I went by the other day and snapped a few pics for an album cover that my ex husband and I have been working on. They aren't that great and I'm planning on going back and taking more but I hope you guys enjoy them anyway. ^_^ MCSunland images (Comment on this)

_3:13 pm_[inferno_x] Poll for you guys. Currently sunlandtallahassee.com redirects to sunland.inferno-x.com. Inferno-X is just a nickname of mine, I never thought we'd have a popular website on the server. We can move the whole thing to sunlandtallahassee.com, which I own. If we done that we would have cooler email addresses and the address would be easier to remember, but the bad side of it is that links would be broken that direct people to us. So, just looking for opinions...what do you think? Poll #381341 Domain Change? Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: All. Participants: 11 Should we change Sunland's domain name from sunland.inferno-x.com to sunlandtallahassee.com? View Answers Yes 10(90.9%) No 1(9.1%) Current Mood: blah (3 Comments |Comment on this)
