Sunshine Coast (original) (raw)
On Sunday, I went to the Kasey Chambers concert in Nambour. Most Aussies should know who she is, but if not, she's an Australian country/pop singer, and she's just awesome! For anyone who doesn't know of her, check out her website and/or her MySpace. Her music is so worth listening to. Honest!
Anyway, I wanted to share a story with you that she shared with us on Sunday night .. (the following is just copied from my personal journal entry)
Kasey told us she was lucky enough to meet Steve Irwin around 3 years ago. She had heard he was going to be at the ARIA awards and she was too, so she took her ( Steve Irwin dollCollapse ) and a nikko pen (sharpie) so he could sign it, and she hung around his dressing room door for ages waiting for him to come out, she was like a groupie with him, hehe. He finally came out with a python wrapped around his neck, as you do, and he looked at Kasey and said "Crikey, I'm not pretty enough!" (One of Kasey's most famous songs is called "Not Pretty Enough" - if you can get a hold of it, you should definitely listen to it!) Hahahaha! Funny stuff.
Later that night Kasey and a friend were sitting around the kitchen table at home talking about Steve and how they should write a song about him because he's such an original and passionate Australian, so they did. And it was recorded and was put on her Wayward Angels album in 2004. It's track number 10, and it's called Follow You Home. I had heard and read the lyrics before, but I never understood what it was about, until Sunday night when we got the explanation about it. Kasey said she thought it would be very fitting/appropriate to play the song in Nambour last night (seeing as Nambour is on the Sunshine Coast, where Steve lived). It was awesome. Here are the lyrics .. read them!
So yeah, that song totally makes sense to me now. It's awesome! If anyone wants me to upload it so you can hear it, just let me know and I will .. :)
Anyway, I just thought this post might fit in here, seeing as we all know who Steve is and he lived on the Coast .. ;)
Besides, ya'll need to start posting!! :p
