As a Google Workspace administrator, you can let your users try Gemini Alpha features before they're made generally available to Workspace users.

Important notes about the Alpha program

Gemini Alpha is turned off by default. Only an admin can turn it on.
You can turn on Gemini Alpha features for all of your Google Workspace with Gemini users or for a subset of Gemini users within specific organizational units or groups.
Alpha features get the same robust data protection standards that come with all Google Workspace services.
Alpha features may not be available in all editions of Google Workspace. Check the feature availability table to see what's currently available to your organization.

Periodically, Google adds or removes Gemini Alpha features, and this page is updated for the current, supported Alpha features.

Workspace with Gemini alpha features were previously limited to customers who purchased the Gemini for Workspace add-on. Beginning on April 22, 2025, Gemini alpha feature access is expanding to all customers with these editions of Google Workspace.

What terms apply to Alpha features?

By enabling Gemini Alpha features, you agree that the Pre-General Availability Offering Terms (excluding Section 6.1(b)), and Generative AI Services sections of the Google Workspace Service Specific Terms apply to your organization's use of the Alpha features. For clarity, Google's data protection and processing obligations with respect to Customer Data set forth in the Cloud Data Processing Addendum will apply to the Alpha features.

Use third-party integrations in Gemini Apps and Workspace Studio

Have your agents do tasks in third-party services using integrations. Integrations let your agents work across Google Workspace apps and other apps like Asana, Mailchimp, Slack, and Salesforce. Many integrations also work in Gemini Apps.

Notification summaries for Chat on Android

Users can receive summaries of their Chat notifications on their Android devices. This will help users more easily triage incoming messages without having to open the Chat app. Learn more about notification summaries for Chat.

Gems in Gemini for Workspace Side Panel

Workspace users can now supercharge their productivity with Gems, custom versions of Gemini, directly in the Gemini side panel in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, German, Japanese, and Korean. Chat with Google’s premade Gems or create your own, on topics like writing sales proposals or analyzing customer feedback. Simply open the Gemini side panel and select your preferred Gem to get started.

Gemini Conversation Summaries in Chat

Users will now be able to request summaries within a conversation in Chat. This can help users quickly get up to speed when there are a high volume of unread messages to catch up on.

AI avatars in Google Vids

Input a script and select an avatar to generate a lip-synced digital actor for your Vids.

Video transcript trimming in Vids

Effortlessly refine your videos and audio with transcript-based trimming. Remove filler words, pauses, and unnecessary sections with a single click, producing a polished final product in no time.

This feature is currently available for English transcripts only.

Ask Gemini in Google Meet

Ask Gemini can help you catch up on the discussion, ask questions about the meeting, and drive improved meeting outcomes.

Key features:

Summarize and understand ongoing discussions, or get a recap of what someone said.
Quickly catch up on what you missed, or if you joined late (only if Take notes for me was on).
Identify key takeaways, decisions, and action items to inform next steps after the meeting.

Built with privacy as a priority: conversations are visible only to the user and data is not retained after the meeting ends.

This feature is currently available for meetings spoken in English.

"Catch me up" in Google Drive

To help you always stay in sync with your files, we’re introducing a new feature in Gemini in Google Drive called "catch me up." It’s a quick way to ensure you never miss a beat. Catch me up provides a synopsis of the main changes and comments in a particular doc since you last opened to ensure you’re always up to date.

AI formulas in Sheets

Users can access Gemini within a cell to create columns of data. Users can enter a specific prompt to describe a desired action and add an optional range: =AI(”prompt”, [optional range])to solve use cases of text generation, summarization, categorization, and sentiment analysis.

Get access to Gemini Alpha features

Note: When you enable access to these features, you enable access to all available Alpha features. You can't control access to individual features.

Sign in with an administrator account to the Google Admin console.
If you aren’t using an administrator account, you can’t access the Admin console.
Click the Alpha features panel.
At the left, choose one of the following:
1. Users–check if a user currently has access to Gemini Alpha.
2. Groups–select groups that will get access to Gemini Alpha. Learn how groups work.
3. Organizational units–select organizational units that will get access to Gemini Alpha. Learn how organizational units work.
Click O n, and then follow the on-screen prompts to enable Gemini Alpha.
(Optional) Check the box to allow your organization to participate in Google surveys. This feedback helps to improve features in Gemini.
