If you use a mouse with your Android device, you can set the cursor to take action automatically when the cursor stops moving for a certain amount of time. This feature can be helpful for users with motor impairments.
Connect a mouse to your Android device
Attach a mouse to your Android device using Bluetooth or USB. Check your device instructions for details, such as these steps for connecting a phone or tablet.
Turn on Autoclick & manage settings
- Open your device's Settings app.
- Click Accessibility
Cursor & touchpad accessibility
Autoclick (Dwell timing).
- Turn on Use autoclick.
- You can adjust these settings:
- Delay before click: Select your preferred time to click after the cursor stops moving. You can also use the slider to set a custom timeout.
- Click area: Select the area where the cursor can freely move without canceling the click once the countdown starts.
- Ignore minor cursor movement: To ignore minor cursor movements or jitter, during dwell clicks, turn on this setting. It helps you prevent an accidental reset of the dwell timer.
* This is turned off by default. - Use left-click as the default action: To automatically revert to a standard left-click after you perform another action, turn on this setting. This applies to actions like right-click, double-click, or drag from the floating click type selector.
Tip: When you hover the cursor over “Pause,” a countdown indicator appears. At the end of the countdown, it triggers a left-click and pauses autoclick. The icon changes to “Resume.”
Use autoclick
- Move the mouse to the place you want to click. Learn how to use different click types.
- Stop moving the mouse.
- The click happens automatically after the selected dwell time.
Use different click types
When “Use autoclick” is on, you can find the floating click type selector. With this panel, you can perform different actions without changing your settings.
- On the floating click type selector, click Click type.
- The Click type icon depends on your current click type.
- Select a click type:
- Left-click : The default action used to select items.
- Touch and hold : Hold down a click for a longer period.
- Right-click : Opens related menus and secondary actions.
- Double-click : Performs a quick double-click.
- Drag : You can drag the cursor to move items.
1. Hover over the element you want to drag.
2. Drag the element after the dwell time.
3. When the cursor stops moving, the dragging action is completed after another dwell time. - Scroll : Activates a scroll panel to navigate content.
Manage & control the floating click type selector
- Pause button: Temporarily stops autoclick to perform actions. To resume, click the Resume button.
- Reposition button or drag functionality: To move the panel to one of the screen’s four corners, click Reposition. You can also:
- Hover over inside the panel’s empty area.
- Drag the panel to the left or right edges.
Understand visual feedback & indicators
To help you understand when a click is about to happen and the current state of autoclick, the feature provides visual hints.
- Animated visual indicator: You can find this as a closing ring around your cursor. It starts to close when the mouse stops to move and the dwell timing begins. When the ring closes, the click action is performed.
- Scroll panel: When the click type is “Scroll,” you can find the "Scroll panel." With this panel you can:
- Interact with arrow areas to scroll content in various directions.
- Exit Scroll mode and return to the main floating click type selector. To exit Scroll mode, click Close
