Non-government hospitals have to deal with many corporate and individual clients. Therefore, the ... more Non-government hospitals have to deal with many corporate and individual clients. Therefore, the hospitals require employees of all levels. Recruitment and selection are the process of attracting and hiring the suitable candidates. Hospital authorities are always concerned with selecting the best candidate for vacant positions. Judgment sampling is used and opinions of human resource professionals are recorded. Non-parametric one sample Wilcoxon Signed Rank test is conducted on the data collected from the human resource departments. The study finds that lack of qualified and experienced candidates is a major challenge in employee recruitment. It is realized that misrepresentation of qualities and varying salary expectations of potential employees creates difficulties in selection process. It is also evident that there is deficiency of training for hiring process for the recruiters. The study is limited to kinds of instructions and cannot emphasize the policy of confidentiality of the organizations in some cases. More research about the challenges might help the different organizations regarding hiring process. The study has helped the nongovernment hospitals to identify major challenges in the recruitment process. It has highlighted the factors that need to be focused on hiring new employees.

The present condition of tourism industry and the role of tourism in the socioeconomic development of Bangladesh are also very meager. In the study, questionnaire survey and other kinds of methods are used to find out the real impacts and delinquent of tourism sector based on socioeconomic culture, particularly in Saint Martin's Island. The locality of the island can protect the biodiversity by increasing the literacy rate and natural awareness. Though tourism facilities are now a bit better than the previous years, the pace of development facilities is not up to mark considering sustainable tourism. Still there is time to save the biodiversity and thereby improve the sector; otherwise it will be too late.

The basic aim of the research was to analyze and compare the capital structure of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE)-listed multi-national companies (MNCs) and local companies of Bangladesh over 24 years (1996-2019). Stratified sampling techniques were applied to the selection of firms. Six financial leverage ratios were used to analyze and compare capital structures. There were significant differences in capital structure between local companies and MNCs as the null hypothesis was rejected. It was also found that the mean equity-financing proportion of domestic companies and MNCs were 65% and 92.5% respectively. The proportion of long term debt in total capital employed was very low for both types of companies. This study examines the impact of bank competition and efficiency in the financial stability of t... more This study examines the impact of bank competition and efficiency in the financial stability of the banking sector in Bangladesh. The study used the Lerner index and the Boone indicator to represent the bank competition, while the non-performing loan (NPL) and Z-score are used to represent financial stability. The secondary data were collected from the annual reports of 28 DSE listed commercial banks of Bangladesh over the period from 2011 to 2018. Using a dynamic panel GMM model, the study found the Lerner index is significantly negatively related with Z-score, which means that higher bank competition results in higher bank stability. It is also seen that higher cost efficiency results in higher bank stability. The Lerner index has negative, but insignificant impact on NPL. Similarly, using the Boone indicator, this study found that lower competition increases NPL. In terms of the Z-score, the Boone indicator found that 1 unit of increment results in decrease of the Z-score by 6.15...

Financial leverage refers to the extent to which a firm relies on debt. The main objective of the... more Financial leverage refers to the extent to which a firm relies on debt. The main objective of the study was to measure the degree of indebtedness as well as effect of corporate borrowings on short-term solvency of DSE-listed manufacturing companies in Bangladesh over a 20-year period (1998-2017). The study was based on secondary data. Stratified and Quota Sampling techniques were applied for the selection of sample items of MNCs and domestic companies respectively. Seven companies from each of MNC and domestic company category were selected as sample from six industrial sectors. It is seen that MNCs" mean short-term solvency is significantly higher and mean degree of indebtedness is significantly lower than that of domestic companies. All three DFL measures exert negative impact on domestic companies" coverage ratios and on interest coverage ratio of MNCs. In case of domestic companies, only DFL (FS) has significant influence on TIE ratio. In case of MNCs, all measures of degree of indebtedness has significant influence on short-term solvency.
