17 year old Jana Pavalic of Croatia posted a new national record as she swam a 24.67, swimming 0.10 under the old record of a 24.77 that she set just weeks ago in Zagreb, Croatia. Pavalic is the top seed heading into tomorrow night’s final. Pavalic also got under the Olympic ‘A’ cut that stands at a 24.70.

Also setting a national record was Tamara Potocka of Slovakia who broke her own record in the 200 IM. Potocka swam to a 2:12.43, faster than her old record of a 2:13.53 that she set at the end of May at the Mare Nostrum stop in Barcelona.

Potocka was faster on almost every 50 today except for her freestyle leg. She had a large improvement on her front half, swimming 0.37 seconds faster on the fly leg and 0.91 seconds faster on the backstroke leg. Potocka is the #2 seed heading into tomorrow night’s final, sitting only behind Israel’s Anastasia Gorbenko, where she will have another shot at the Olympic ‘A’ cut of a 2:11.47.
