Because this is a bit of a summertime phenomenon, at least where I live, and because it's so very broad and evocative and conducive to playing around with gender, which is after all what we do here, the theme for this challenge is (drumroll please) Carnival! Think circus, think festival, think masquerade, surprises and mystery and laughter and danger! Think sideshows and clowns and carousels and acrobats and masks and deception and drama and fried foods! Think whatever you want, create whatever you are inspired to create, as long as it involves some distortion of the expected where sex and gender are concerned, and it's somehow tangentially related to the concept of carnival, whatever carnival means to you. Go as light and fluffy or as dark, kinky and twisted as you want, be as literal or metaphoric as you choose, just please, please share it! I'm setting the deadline at August 1st, so you'll have plenty of time. If there's something in particular you'd like to see, I encourage you to post requests and work out exchanges. I also heartily, heartily encourage you to pimp this challenge and community as widely and enthusiastically as possible. And, ooh, for extra incentive, on August 2nd I'll compile a list of all entries (make a note of it somewhere in your post if you do not want a particular piece to be included) so people can vote, and the winner will get some sort of prize.
