For this purpose, forty male players of various games studying in various departments of Manipal University, Mangalore, with the age group of 18-25 years were selected. They were divided into four equal groups, each group consisted of ten subjects, in which group-I (n = 10) underwent low intensity plyometric training (LPTG), group-II (n = 10) underwent medium intensity plyometric training (MPTG), group-III (n = 10) underwent high intensity plyometric training (HPTG) and group-IV remained as control. The training period was three days in a week for twelve weeks. The selected criterion variables such as speed and speed endurance were assessed by administering 50 meters run and shuttle run test. Prior and after the training periods, the subjects were tested for speed and speed endurance. The Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) was applied as statistical tool, to find out which group has significantly improved the speed and speed endurance. Whenever the adjusted post-test mean 'f' ratio was significant, the Scheffé S was used as post hoc test. It was concluded after applying the statistical tool, that three training groups, such as, low (LPTG), medium (MPTG) and high intensities (HPTG) of plyometric training group has improved the speed and speed endurance, when compared with the control group. It was concluded from the result of the study all the training groups such as, low intensity plyometric (LPTG) training, medium intensity plyometric (MPTG) and high intensity plyometric (HPTG) training group were significantly improved their speed performance and moreover, there was no significant difference was occurred between the training groups on speed and speed endurance after their respective training programmes.

For this purpose, forty five middle aged women of Kasargod town, Kerala, in the age group of 35 – 40 years were selected. They were divided into three equal groups (n = 15), each group consisted of fifteen subjects, in which group – I underwent physical exercise, group – II underwent yoga practice and group – III acted as control group who did not participate in any special training. The training period for this study was six days in a week for twelve weeks. Prior to and after the training period the subjects were tested for self-confidence and blood pressure (systolic and diastolic). Muscular endurance was assessed by administering sit-ups test, self-confidence was assessed by using Agnihotri self-confidence inventory (ASCI) and blood pressure was assessed by using sphygmomanometer respectively. The a...

For this purpose, thirty male students studying in various f aculties (except physical education and fine arts) at Annamalai University in the age group of 18 ‐ 25 years were selected. They were divided into two equal groups, each group cons isted of fifteen subjects, in which group ‐ I underwent yoga practice and group ‐ II ac ted as control group who did not participate in any special training. The training period for this study was five days in a week for thirteen weeks. Prior to and after the tr aining period the subjects were tested for flexibility, total cholesterol and blood pressure ( systolic and diastolic). Flexibility was measured by conducting sit and reach test, total ch olesterol was measured with the help of Boehringer Mannheim Kit method after taking 5 ml of blood, and blood pressure was measured with the help...

For this purpose, thirty male diabetic patients around Annamalainagar, Chidambaram, Cuddalore District, Tamilnadu in the age group of 35-40 years were selected. They were divided into two equal groups, each group consisted of fifteen subjects, in which group-I underwent yoga practices and group-II acted as control that did not participate in any special activities apart from their regular day-today activities. The training period for this study was six days in a week for twelve weeks. Prior to and after the training period the subjects were tested on total cholesterol, triglycerides and uric acid. Total cholesterol, triglycerides and uric acid were tested after taking 10 ml (5 ml separately for uric acid test) of blood samples by venous puncture method, by using Boehringer Manheimm Kit Method. The Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) was used to find out any significant difference between the pre-test mean and post-test means and significant difference that was exists between the yoga practice group and control group on selected criterion variables. It was concluded from the results of the study that yoga practice has decreased the total cholesterol, triglycerides and uric acid significantly (P > .05) after yoga practices (P > .05). It was found that there was a significant difference was occurred between the yoga practice group and control group on total cholesterol, triglycerides and uric acid level.

Sixty male students aged between 17 and 22 years studying in various faculties of Annamalai University were selected. They were divided into four equal groups, each group consisting of fifteen subjects, in which group I (n=15) underwent resistance training, group II (n = 15) underwent endurance training, group III (n = 15) underwent combination of resistance and endurance training for three days (alternative days) per week for twelve weeks, and group IV (n=15) acted as control, which did not participate in any training. The subjects were tested on selected criterion variables such as back strength, flexibility and cardiorespiratory endurance at prior to and immediately after the training period. For testing the back strength, the dynamometer was used, to test the flexibility, sit and reach test ...

Sixty female college students were divided into four equal groups (n = 15), in which group I underwent resistance training, group II underwent endurance training and group III underwent the combination training for 3 days per week for 12 weeks, and group IV acted as control. The subjects were tested on selected criterion variables such as leg strength, muscular endurance and cardio-respiratory endurance at prior to and immediately after the training. For testing the leg strength, the dynamometer was used, bent knee sit-up test was administered to test muscular endurance and for cardio-respiratory endurance the Cooper’s 12 minutes run/walk test was administered. The analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was used as statistical tool and since four groups were involved in the present study, the Scheffé S test used as post-hoc test. The selected ...
