Therefore, it is argued that any vague area in social life calls for sociological approach. One evident area where fuzziness prevails as to the functions and meaning is the notion of religion. Sociology did not turn a blind eye to religion and defines it as a significant institution playing pivotal roles in shaping the nature of individual's relationship with others. Some terrorist groups attribute similar amounts of importance to religion and after reinterpretation of basic teachings, they use religion to their benefit. In this article, the attentions were drawn to the process of how religion and particularly Islam has been revisited and reinterpreted in a way to provide terrorist groups guidance-as the literature suggested-in four basic ways. First; how religion becomes the key element in legitimating violence; second, how it has been used as the cure to alienation of in-group members; third, the ways in which religion sets free the group from the need to appeal to larger constitutes; and lastly, how it is used in target selection period.

ISIS created its terrorism model in 2014 and has used it to control territory, spread its ideology, create provincial branches in different regions, inspire lone actors, and generate revenue. Terrorism databases are full of incidents that involve ISISstyle tactics, targets, and affiliated groups that act as provincial branches of ISIS. This paper examines how ISIS developed its model, what components that model involves, and how the model has influenced not only jihadist groups but also right-wing extremists and drug cartels around the world. The study uses a mixed method of quantative and qualitative research, and the proposed ISIS Model is developed through a rigorous literature review.

This study revealed that to deal with the situations that create social crises and public unrest such as terrorist attacks, governments are generally inclined to adopt heavy security policies, which usually include force. Public expectations and public pressure play an important role on this inclination. The study also proved that security based policies usually satisfy the expectations of the masses, but the same policies raises anxiety and fear for the immigrants and foreigners who live in that particular country. Since these tight security applications have been frequently encountered in the USA and EU after large scale terrorist attacks, this article will focus on these two countries.

While religion has the capacity to promote both harmony and social cohesion, as well as division and conflict, it is crucial to explore the complex and contradictory nature of religious beliefs in relation to individuals’ attitudes towards terrorism. To address this paradox, the study differentiates between religion as a belief and religion as an ideology. Drawing from a subset of the 2011 Pew Global Attitudes Survey, encompassing countries with substantial Muslim populations (Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Lebanon, and Turkey), the research investigates how religiosity and political Islam influence public attitudes towards terrorism, considering political and economic grievances in these contexts. Multivariate statistical analysis suggests that religiosity and political Islam exhibit di...

Unfortunately, this particular method greatly limits the relevance and universality of these investigations when it comes to smaller urban areas and developing nations. The aim of this study is to fill that gap in the literature. It focuses on three key factors: demographic characteristics, prior victimization, and neighborhood structure. The study was conducted in Elazığ, Turkiye, with 430 participants. Survey questions included Likert-type items. Fear of Crime scale provided a score of 2.37, which is very close to the notion of “not worried.” Hypotheses are tested using the Independent Samples T-Test, ANOVA, and correlation tests. According to the results, fear of crime was found to be higher for female participants compared to males, for people with no formal education compared to people with higher education, for people with prior victimization ...
