Law & Order: CI]2:10 PM 5/28/09 · When I posted my review for X·Men Origins: Wolverine I was a little surprised regarding this one comment I got relating to Gambit. I've been turning it over and over in my head and I just can't make much sense of it. Which isn't that unusual in anything relating to Gambit because he's a whole mess of contradictions.For example, when the character was first presented he wasn't exactly how he is seen now. The guy had more than one power. Gambit was ahead of the curve in terms of secondary mutations. In addition to his ability to kinetically charge inanimate objects and throw them with explosive force, he also had hypnotic abilities. He could mezmerize people with his eyes and subtley altering the cadence of his speech, which caught the Shadow King's interest right quick.Another odd little thing was he didn't use playing cards as his primary weapon. Didn't even carry them. He used metal shards and throwing darts. I've never been able to work out what it was that got them changed to a deck of cards. Hell, unless you're Bullseye playing cards are not the most accurate of weapons!Anyway, the comment had to do with a fight with Wolverine. The commenter said that there was no way that Wolvie should've been able to cut Gambit's staff in ½ like that since it was adamantium. Ignoring the other little flaw in the film regarding something similar to this, I just couldn't make much sense of that. My comic knowledge is usually pretty damned accurate, up until June 16th of last year when I got laid off, and so far as I recall Gambit has never used had an adamantium staff.Adamantium being a hard to come by commodity, and expensive as all get out, I can't imagine how he'd ever been able to lay his hands on one in the first place.My friend,  Anna, was disappointed in his eyes. She said the movie version's eyes were all wrong and made her want to boink him less. The way his eyes are in the comics has driven her mad with lust for years. |
Wheee!]For those of you who have your heads in the ground, there is a new Batman movie being filmed. Yep, yep! With Christian Bale, the luckiest man on earth. Why you ask? Well....he wears tight spandex and rubber everyday for four months (and makes money for it too!) He has a fan following of hundreds, if not thousands, and...do I mean AND, he is so freakin' hot I can hardly stand it! lol. Batman was always my favorite superhero, but now I know why!_Rasputina_
