Research interests include studies in the psalms, wrath of God, hermeneutics, poetic and wisdom literature, Old Testament theology, embodiment theology and virtue ethics.

This essay seeks to address the use of Scripture in bioethical decision making by first building ... more This essay seeks to address the use of Scripture in bioethical decision making by first building an ontology of Scripture (John Webster) and clarifying the nature of biblical meaning (Kevin Vanhoozer). From there, the contextualization and canonization of the biblical text is brought to bear upon the redemption of the reader (Exemplarist Virtue Theory) and finally upon the world of applied ethics (bioethics). The thesis is that Scripture is about being transformed through an encounter with the living God rather than acting as a conglomeration of proof texts by which one can affirm or deny arguments.
