Teen Actors (original) (raw)

Hey everybody! I'm new here. I'm posting to let you know about a blog I've created to help students of drama & theatre studies. On it I talk about plays and practitioners, explain words and phrases, give essay tips and comment on recent drama-related news and topics. The difference is that I welcome requests for topics to write about. Essentially, I want readers to tell me what they need help with, and I'll try my hardest to write about it in a way that answers their questions. My main aim is to help in any way I can!
This is a fairly new blog and I'm just trying to find people who may be interested in it. If you are, please 'follow' me, bookmark it or leave a comment. If you have your own blog, send me the link! :)
I hope it's alright to post the link here (click on the photo to take you to the blog). If not, please delete this post!
Thanks, I hope you find this useful. :)

Hi. Call me Sav. I'm 13 and in 8th grade right now. In addition to acting I also have a passion for singing as well.
I love acting because...I don't really know. I just love it! The drama and passion! I love the feeling of preforming and showing others I'm not as quiet and shy and whatever as people think I may be.
I'm a free spirit. I go with the wind—the water!— the flow! when I want to. And when I feel spontaneous I'll brave the harsh winds and rains and do what I want. Take a risk. There's nothing wrong with it! I just hope that in the future I won't be forgotten. In the far away times of forever I don't want to vanish from the world. I want to stay—to be kept in hearts. In a world where my great-great-great-great grandchildren whom I'll probably never meet will keep me, never to let go, the world will not forget me. I know that eventually my memories and I will be lost but I want to be held for a long time. I want people to remember my name. So what does that random paragraph have anything to do with acting? You decide!
Currently my goal in acting and singing is to get the lead or at least a character with a name in my school's choirs' musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Jr!
Farewell for now. Bye~

A little bit more...

Almost forgot!
I thought this was necessary, and I have a bit of OCD in me when it comes to leaving things out....
I'm about 16, going into my junior year of high school.
From New York.
That's it!

I'm Dana, and just joined this community (and livejournal in general).
I know that the acting biz is difficult, especially since there are so many great people out there, but it's something that I've wanted to pursue for a while. I've always really focused on my singing and dance, and am finally starting to do some acting! I've done lots of musical theatre stuff, and small roles in films. That info was really boring and tedious, and sorry for saying it, but it was just some backround about me! I'm really a fun person, and I find that you can meet the best people in acting. I try to stay confident through each audition I go through, and if I don't get it, there will always be another chance. Keep pursuing, and if you need any advice or just a friend, I'm here! Nice to meet you all :)

Why I like acting:
When onstage (or on camera) and acting a character, it’s like I am participating in a sport which I can actually do, and do well.
My favourite thing about acting is the rush at that split second after you have finished your performance and before the audience give their applause. It is a fantastic feeling.
Yeah, I know. Call me sentimental.
My hopes for the future:
When I graduate from school, I want to join a drama school, particularly RSAMD in Glasgow. After that, I’m not sure; I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it.

Hi my names Michelle and I’m a young actress from England, I was wondering if anyone could help me!
I’m currently looking for a duologue suitable for two girls aged 13-30 we would prefer to do something serious, we are also interested in doing a piece that will have a large impact on an audience.
I'm also looking for a monologue for a female same age range and that has a serious tone to it, I would to do a piece with quite dark theme however any that have a impact would be great..
any help will be appreciated thanks shell x
college audition help
at October 15th, 2006 (09:55 pm)
i need some help. i'm auditioning for emerson college's musical theatre program. i have my two contrasting songs, but i'm kind of unsure of what monologue i should perform. it needs to be something contemporary and age appropriate (i'm 17).
i am also applying to marymount manhattan college's and american university's musical theatre programs which require two contrasting monologues. comedic and dramatic, classical and contemporary, etc.
if anyone could give me some suggestions of a couple of contrasting pieces i would greatly appreciate it. thank you!

Why do you like acting?: I love having complete control over an audience, and having all eyes on me is such a rush. The stage is a place for me to express myself when everyday life can't do me justice.
What are your hopes for the future?: I'm taking steps in the right direction.. I have a professional gig downtown with a murder mystery dinner theatre company. Hopefully after university I'll move out west to Vancouver, or even back to California and try my hand at some film acting. Who knows? Maybe I'll just do musical theatre right here in Ottawa.
