head relapping [12 Feb 2008|10:26pm]
[ mood | And I am a tape head eating the tape on the opposite side ] Well this is WAY easier than 65 dollars or however much the tape head people chargeThe head on the left has a flat spot from iron oxide particles glued to plastic bands rubbing against it, resulting in bad tape contact. The one on the right I basically just took some 1000-grit sandpaper toSweet now I get to use my reel to reel for mixdowns (Sounds like tape)

best buy [07 Feb 2008|01:49am]
somebody gave me best buy gift cards for christmas (Man who told you guys I liked consumerism anyway) and I decided to go there and they had 10-inch subwoofers for 6 bucks each (?????)Which would be perhaps the only good deal Best Buy has ever had on anythingSo I thought my bookshelf speakers should have actual low bass and I also liked building things out of wood (Proper-ass sealed speaker boxes)(Turns out that MDF is not wood but rather some kind of anti-building material [You can't build anything with it])This is driven by the power amp from a set of computer speakers somebody gave me (All computer speakers are going to hell)The volume setting at which the subwoofer produces a flat bass response with the main speakers is marked in pencil so I can yell at my friends when they think there should be precisely timed seismic events instead of KraftwerkHere is the bass test record (This has the best bass I've heard on anything in a while)i'm Bug Audio: Subwoofers For People Who Don't Like Subwoofers
