Ardoin extended the lead to 3-0 with a solo homer to left field to start the fourth inning.

Pete Hansen's first eight outs were recorded on strikeouts before a groundout to end the third inning. The Wildcats got their first run of the game on a solo homer to start the fourth inning. The run snapped a streak of 19-consecutive scoreless innings pitched.

Texas extended the lead out to 5-1 when Campbell and Hodo hit back-to-back homers in the top of the fifth. It was the fourth-time this season that the Longhorns hit back-to-back homers.

K-State scored two runs in the sixth to trim the Longhorns lead to 5-3. Texas had a great chance to get the run back in the seventh but had a runner thrown out at home.
