Since tattoos are a big no-go at work, I can't get one on my arms or my neck or my face, obviously ;)Can anyone tell me how much it hurts to get a tattoo on your hip or your foot or if this is considered a good choice for a first-timer? _4:55 pm_[brittybritbrit]	New here. Hello there. I'm new to this community, and I have no text tattoos, but I have been thinking about getting words printed on me for a while now. I have finally chosen the phrase 'carpe amorem' in courier new font on my left wrist. This tattoo would have a double meaning for me, because I always give people my love very freely, whether it be friends, family, or significant others. On top of that, I am a (new) polygamist with two very important people in my life. These people have done so much, as friends and now lovers, to shape me into the woman I am today. So, it would also be a reminder to take chances and risk it all, because sometimes, it's worth it. Current Mood: happy (Comment on this)

Anyway, I want to get these words tattooed: Life, hope, truth, trust, faith, pride, love, lust, pain, hate, lies, guilt, laugh, cry, live, die.It's going to be a scripty type font, but I have NO idea where to put it! I've been debating this for...7 years or so? I'd love to get it on my forearm, but I'm going into elementary education, and really don't want to have to wear long sleeves everyday! My husband thinks foot tattoos are trashy (don't ask me why, I love them, personally). I don't really want a "tramp stamp." So yeah, I just don't know. _7:28 pm_[k_or_michael]	Looking for Good Artists in the Atlanta area Hey All,I don't have any ink yet, but I am in the market for artists in the Atlanta area that people have gone to and would vouch for them doing quality work. I'm looking to get a tattoo on the underside of my left arm starting at my wrist with lyrics from AFI's "Leaving Song". The lyrics I would get there are "Walked away, heard them say, "Poisoned hearts will never change, walk away again," turned away in disgrace, felt the chill upon my face cooling from within". I'm also looking to get another tattoo on the other arm in the same position with lyrics from The Smith's "How Soon is Now?". The lyrics I would get from that song are "You shut your mouth How can you say I go about things the wrong way I am Human and I need to be loved Just like everybody else does". I'm still working out the details of the second one, but I'm set on the first one. I've been an AFI fan since I was 14 (I'm 20 now), so it'd mean a lot to me. _10:33 am_[brownpolyester]	direction of foot tattoos hi everyone :) i have a question about foot tattoos. i have been thinking very intently about getting two small words, one on each of my feet, but i don't know if they should be facing outwards or inwards so that i can read them. i know that a lot of people are going to say "do whatever you want" but i'm wondering if there is a difference in aesthetics. i can easily look in a tall mirror and see them, but then, they would be backwards. but then if someone is looking at them and they're facing me, they're going to cock their head and/or ask me what it says, if they can't read it. it's a difficult decision to make! if anyone has any input that would be great. and feel free to post pictures of your own feet tattoos, especially if there is text involved.thank you!x-posted to ihearttattoos, text_tattoos, and literarytattoos. So I was writing my thesis the other day and therefore idly daydreaming about future tattoo ideas when I started thinking about "Es mejor morir de pie que vivir arrodillado" (it's better to die on your feet than to live on your knees) and how amazing that would be down my ribs in some sort of ornate script. Seriously, I think that would be one of the prettiest tattoos ever.But I would feel so wrong getting it. For all of my dedication to social justice and anti-globalization movements (and others...) the fact remains that I'm not Mexican, let alone part of the Zapatista movement. I do what I can to work in solidarity with them... but I don't think a couple events with the Mexico Solidarity Network or sharing a lot of their values and ideas really counts. It's a beautiful quote, but I'd feel like I was appropriating their struggle for my own personal and aesthetic purposes. I thought of how I felt when a male friend of mine got the feminist fist tattoo and it made me really uneasy. I could ramble on about this for pages though.This was all a really long introduction to ask what other people's favorite quotes relating to social justice or activism or making the world a better place in general are.
