EARL WOODS SCHOLAR PROGRAM

The Earl Woods Scholar Program is a comprehensive scholarship program that provides ongoing support for students from under-represented communities to thrive in school and life.

Supporting high school students with demonstrated need and a commitment to community service, the Earl Woods Scholar Program empowers students to succeed in college and achieve their post-secondary dreams through ongoing financial aid, mentorship, specialized internship opportunities, skills development, career readiness resources and annual enrichment workshops.

Each Earl Woods Scholar is partnered with a dedicated mentor who serves as an advocate, career coach, personal advisor and role model throughout their college experience and beyond.

The valuable relationships are life-changing for the scholars, many of whom are first-generation students with little or no practical guidance on college life and career planning.

To encourage personal growth and build essential skills for their future, the program provides an array of interactive learning and engagement opportunities for scholars on an annual basis. Before their first year of college, all freshmen scholars participate in a pre-college retreat, which covers a series of topics that help them prepare for college life.

Each year, all scholars attend the three-day immersive Winter Workshop where they participate in informative workshops including résumé writing, interview training, graduate school and human resources preparation, industry panels and networking events.

Through professional enrichment opportunities including job shadowing, internships, fellowships and study abroad, the program provides valuable resources and information that enhances the scholars résumés as they pursue their career aspirations.

An emphasis on real-life work and cultural experiences is highly encouraged among the Earl Woods Scholars as an avenue to build skills, prepare for the workplace and build their path toward a specialized career.

Each scholar creates a personalized career plan that clearly defines their path to the workforce or graduate. Early in their college career, we integrate tools and skill building such as: self-assessment, career exploration, decision-making and action plans that support the next stages of their career paths.

Starting in their third year, scholars engage in monthly coaching calls to develop practical skills and create strategies tailored to their individual needs.
