It's always interesting to read these journals to see what nefarious adventures my students and ex-students are out doing these days. I tend to feel less guilty about the marks I've given for their papers, though I'm told it's a part of becoming a better professor.That said, my condolences, Mr Potter. Should you need an extension for the paper I've assigned this week, please let me know.

Last night I stayed up later than I meant to, writing a letter for my mother. She becomes fidgety when she doesn't hear from me in a while, convinced that she's lost her son to the sins of modern society. And that brings me to my nocturnal epiphany. I realise I haven't been myself for a while, and that's pushed my friends away. I don't like being cast aside, it's not in my nature to be alone. I miss my good friends in Slytherin. I haven't talked to you for so long because I was off being difficult. Please talk to me, or I'll become fidgety like my mother and we can all agree there's nothing worse for a chap to sound like his mother.In particular, I wish to speak with the ever beautiful Mrs Lestrange and Mrs Malfoy. Slytherin House is not quite the same without you. How are you faring outside of these walls, ladies?

Narcissa dearest, I hope you're able to clear any previous engagements you had this evening in order to accomodate your husband. Dinner at eight in the meeting room adjacent to my study. Casual dress, if you wish; for once, it's dinner for two.Associates, I apologise for neglecting you--business kept me on the continent longer than I expected and communication is less reliable when one is travelling. I can once more be reached by owl at Malfoy Manor. There's also reaching me through these books, though I wouldn't trust important information to its pages.

I had a delightful tea with some of my former colleagues today. It certainly looks as if my calculations are spot on this time, although I can't say that I'm happy with what I've learned. One of them even suggested that, with the accuracy of my latest chart, I could try talking my way back in - goodness knows how I did that the first time, at any rate. I told him, though, that as long as my seventh years were doing as terribly as they were, I'd be obligated to stay and make sure that at least a quarter of the class pass the NEWTs. Although, if they are intent on not revising at all, I suppose I should just try to take up my old job again. Of course, I've already said that I wouldn't, so I can only hope that you lot are going to start taking things seriously. You only have about four months before the exam, and I'll only be taking the last month and a half to review all of the material in the past few years, after all.
