The 11th Floor (original) (raw)
Was away from the TV last night, so didn’t get a chance to catch up with the Goren/Eames finale eppy until tonight. I can’t say I was overwhelmed, but it was interesting, probably for all the wrong reasons. And Eric Bogosian continues to delight.
So, for my somewhat random thoughts jotted down in my notebook as I watched this…
Nice Pieta pose for the dead guy. Artistically draped sheet and everything.
Goren’s annoying Rodgers at a crime scene. Just another day at Major Case. Eames amused.
And wow. Someone covered up drug use by the victim. Let’s pretend to be shocked.
How much of the Hamp character do the writers owe to Heath Ledger?
Wow… that ex-cop should have never flashed his fancy ex-cop wallet. That’s the chattiest salesgirl ever. Also, negative points in the creative ways to introduce exposition category.
Names in this one – Hamp, Galla, Stash, Duke Deguerin
Ha Rodgers “Goren has an irritating habit of being right.” – Doesn’t that pretty much just sum up CI in a nutshell?
Ha ex-wife Amy “I played a murderess. I know how they think.” It’s so nice to see Goren laugh.
Oh, I do love a theater with metal folding chairs.
Ding. Ding. Ex-cop Stash worked with Eames at the 1-9.
Duke: “we crossed swords”
This is all feeling very ‘while Rome burns.’
Oh, naturally there would be a Hamp billboard outside the Duke’s loft.
Dear God… between this and the teaser billboard … what was their budget? Or did they CGI them in later…???
Dear God II … The Duke has a model of an ARENA he’s trying to build. What did I just say about Rome?
Somehow I knew that shot of Goren fondling the Scotch bottles at Hamp’s loft would be important later on. I wonder what Goren would do for a $2000 bottle of scotch.
I didn’t check the brand on the bottle but here’s some easy bonus points research: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islay_whisky
The Duke’s wife is called Avia. Technically Latin for grandmother, but ‘a via’ – the way?
HA. Duke thinks it’s Detective Goblin.
Duke seems to like his sex rough.
Note to SOMEONE: Whoever decided that fading out by pixilating the image was a good idea should rethink this if there’s a season nine. Unless it’s an image that really can pixilate, it just looks stupid.
Galla – Galina
“God’s Own Pimp” huh? How fun for the actor to put that on his resume.
HEY—Goren’s got the Burberry Trench on!!
The Duke has a statue of The Dying Gaul. Egods.
Stash should really stop sticking his foot in his mouth now.
Goren and Eames are using Australian tabloids to make their case? Why does it always come back to Melbourne around this joint?
ROSS SUGGESTS EAMES SLIP INTO A SAUNA!
There’s been a lot of skin showing in this episode.
Can anyone tell me who the third portrait is in Hamp’s loft? There’s Gandhi, and Cary Grant and ??? (what a combo!)
Oh, a dead hooker. Quelle suprise.
Poor Stanislaw (Stash) … Galina is dead.
So they drag him into interrogation, and he seems credible if misguided, but …
HAHAHA. Goren and Eames pull Ross in a 3 a.m. Would have loved to be in on that phone call. Ross not much of a morning person.
and they’re putting him in the act. Go Danny.
HEY. Ritchie’s working the night shift, so he’s there to see the fun.
It’s nice to see G/E getting back to their old tricky ways.
And Ross gets to hang in his office with a hooker. Nice work if you can get it. He should send out MORE memos.
Hmmmm…OKAY. Once again, the perp seemed just a little too eager to confess. I miss the old days when the villains had to be seduced into incriminating themselves (see “Jones”).
Contrast the ending of this with something where there’s a battle of wills … like “Prisoner” or “Magnificat.”
It’s more fun if they have to work for it.
So anyway… season eight down for Goren. Eames has one more job to do.
