So does she deserve freedom? [Nov. 11th, 2004|09:36 am]Ask. Tell. Learn.
[**mood** |curiouscurious]As some of you may have heard, one of Charles Manson girls says she deserves to be let free. She has a terminal illness and wants to spend her last days as a free woman.Do you think she deserves to be let free in society? Why or why not?I personally think she should be allowed some type of freedom. She's not on any drugs and been kept away from Manson for so long that she no longer feels any tie to him like she did before. In her interview she seemed perfectly aware of her wrong doings and the reality of the damages she has done. She even went on to describe how horrible it is knowing you have kids in the world with such a mother. The complete opposite of what was shown in the beginning. I think she has changed.

Amorality [Dec. 30th, 2007|08:19 pm]Ask. Tell. Learn.
**This post is made here because I have much respect for the moderator's social experiment, and want to suggest a sub-group, wherein you can ask and answer questions, but with the added layer of trying to use your reason and fighting bias or moral judgments - our goal is to understand how things work or how things are, leaving other thoughts like right and wrong for later contemplation.**I want to invite all fellow thinkers to put our minds together in a group called x_amorality_x, for the purpose of addressing whatever important questions each of us may have USING REASON WITHOUT BIAS, as much as possible. I can see the power of having a group of people who will actively think through things without condemnation, unnecessary emotion, and other bias. Imagine a free discussion and a true understanding of how things truly are (as far as we can figure them out) without having your discovery cut short by someone else's prohibitions on thought, or fear, or guilt, or shame, or anything else that will keep you from the truth!

That funny thing called the internet. [May. 25th, 2007|05:28 pm]Ask. Tell. Learn.
Have you ever connected deeply (in a non-romantic way) with someone you met online? Not only forming a friendship but forming one that you would place among the ranks of your real-life friendships? If so, how far would you say the relationship has gone - sending packages, meeting offline, ect ect. Why do you feel you have managed to connect so well with this person without meeting face to face? Feel free to go ahead and gush about the other person, if you so choose. ;) I'd also like to say from the start, just in case it is needed, that this question is directed to those who believe they have made a connection with someone met over the internet, and not about rather such connections can be considered genuine. That is another topic that I believe has already been addressed here. Thank you.

Dæmons [May. 21st, 2007|11:50 pm]Ask. Tell. Learn.
Based on dæmons from The Golden Compass...If your soul were to exist externally and in the form of any animal (cat, hawk, cricket, even a dragon) which form do you think it would take? Would it shift forms based on your emotions or personality or would it be settled into its final form by now? *Answer anonymously if you wish, just answer honestly.

I just did my make-up for no reason - it's nearly 2 AM, I can't sleep, I can't go out because I'm grounded for being an idiot on New Years Eve, and I don't feel pretty. So, I just did my make-up and, well, now I feel pretty. Fantastic. I hate doing typical girl things. Here are my questions (they have nothing to do with the above): 1. Whose fault is it really when a kid talks to a stranger on the internet, agrees to meet up, and gets molested? The parents or the kid? Assume the kid is 13 or older. Don't say the pervert - that goes without saying. I just don't think it's right to blame the parents when the kid should have known better.2. How are you feeling right now? Gimme adjectives.3. Book/movie/band/whatever that made you think or changed your life? I'm looking for inspiration. Personally I recommend The Handmaid’s Tale.

Hey, Im new, this community reminded me of the one i just started called RadicalThinker and I would like to talk, listen, and learn. My Question...Is it just me, or do people not realize that they are going to be told what to do for the rest of their lives, and having a negative attitude towards authority will do them no good.Conformity is not always a good thing, but there are some things in life that cannot and should not be changed.

American Values? [Nov. 22nd, 2006|12:48 pm]Ask. Tell. Learn.
I was reading an article and they referred to "American Values". It was kind of like "The government needs to identify and get in line with American values." That got me thinking - what are they? What do you think?By using the word "values" I would define that as "to rate as a high price, to have in high esteem". So - for an American what do we hold to be characteristics, ideals, and the like of the utmost importance?I know some of my LJF are not Americans, but I would like - if you don't mind - what you think the answer is. I think it could be interesting to see what is perceived by you as to exactly what are American values.x-posted

Questions About Friends [Aug. 9th, 2006|07:40 pm]Ask. Tell. Learn.
These aren't particularly deep or meaningful questions but I am curious to the answers : 1/ If you went on someone who you consider to be a close friends myspace, would you be upset if you weren't in their top 8? (Assuming they're in yours)2/ Do you rate how much a friend likes you by your position in their top 8?Then a completely unrelated question : If you continually make the effort to go visit a friend, but they never make the effort to come to see you, or promise they will and then never actually do it, would you still consider them a friend? What would you do about the situation?

[mood** |hungryhungry] [music** "Time Consumer" Coheed and Cambria]Love is universal and can hold many definitions depending on the person. Whether you are in a relationship or not, give your own personal definition of the word love.Ex. (A while ago, I surveyed friends and family members by giving them the sentence: ...)"Love is_____."You don't have to put your answer in that way, though. One of my friends answers:"...a connection between two souls."Of course, it can be a love between a parent and child, love between family members, brotherly and sisterly love, friendly love, love for a spouse/boyfriend/girlfriend, love for a pet, love for an object, or anything!

When that old "Comment if you want me to interview you" meme was going around, one of the questions I'd ask everyone who requested an interview of me was this:We all have a semi-constant stream of mental narrative running through our minds while we go about our business. Listen to yours for a couple of minutes and tell me what it's saying. [No censoring allowed.]I'd like to see what you guys make of this one.
