Summary: The Doctor is stuck in the rift and needs the help of his companions to help him get back out again.

Everyone was spotted around different parts of the hub, reading over files or analysing data. As they didn’t think that much work would get done, everyone had banned Ianto from sitting in Jack’s office with him. Ianto had protested this saying that he was the consummate professional, however, he was out voted and Rose and Gwen were sat in there with him instead. Martha worked along side Owen as they looked over the slightly more medical based files whilst Ianto and Donna sat themselves down on the sofa.

They were all working rather well together and in a comfortable silence when it happened. He arrived.

“You know, this entrance is so much better than that little tourist office you’ve got,”

Jack and Gwen came running out of his office, Rose close behind whilst everyone else looked up the descending lift. On it was the smirking figure of Captain John Hart. They of course had been expecting him since the rift activity alarm had went off half an hour ago, but he was still quite good at making a grand entrance.

John hopped down off of the platform before it reached the bottom. He was wearing a confident grin as he sauntered up the stairs carrying a rather large holdall with him.

“I see you took my advice,” he said with a smirk to Jack.

“Meaning?” Jack asked in frustration as he folded his arms.

“Got yourself a blonde,” he pointed out, looking about himself, “And a red head… hello there,”

Donna smiled as he moved closer and trailed a finger across her lips, “Sunshine, if you want to keep that finger along with your genitals, I suggest you back off,”

John raised an eyebrow at her, “So it’s true then? You are feisty,” he said as he turned back round to Jack, “So who are all your new little friends?”

“Exactly that. Friends,”

“Aren’t you going to introduce me?” John asked with a pout as he looked Mickey up and down.

Jack sighed, “This is Mickey Smith, his wife Rose…”

“A couple? You two wouldn’t fancy a threesome would you cause Jack and Eye Candy here…”

“And this is Doctor Martha Jones and Donna Noble,”

John surveyed them all, trying to figure out just what it was they had in common, but before he could piece it together Jack began speaking to him again.

“So what’s in the bag?”

John threw the bag at Jack, which was heavier than it looked, “Your stuff. Meant to bring it with me last time, but you know… mind was kind of elsewhere,”

Jack lowered the bag onto the floor and opened it. It was indeed full of everything he had left at his and John’s apartment when he had left. Clothes, photographs, music, porn but most importantly his Time Agent uniform, sword and all.

First he pulled the jacket (that matched John’s) out of the bag and tried it on, “See told you I hadn’t put on weight. It still fits,”

John grinned, “Button it,” he said.

“What?” Jack asked in surprise.

“I said, button it,”

Jack looked down at the jacket, knowing full well it would button. He blushed slightly and bent down to pull out his katana. Again it matched John’s. He had loved it and it was probably one of the things he had missed most about leaving the time agency. It was of course only meant to be worn on official occasions, but it was an integral part of the uniform.

“So that’s a uniform then?” Ianto asked, nodding his head at John.

“He’s quick,”

“John don’t,” Jack warned as he took the jacket off and put it back in the bag with his sword.

John rolled his eyes, “So anyway, what’s with the demanding that I bring you a wristband?”

Jack smiled, “Did you bring one?”

“No,” John said with a snort, “I told you, Time Agency’s gone. How the hell was I supposed to get something that didn’t exist,”

Jack frowned, “Come here,” he said as he grabbed John’s hand. He pulled him into the autopsy bay.

“What?” John asked once they were out of sight of everyone else.

Jack just grinned before leaning down and kissing John hard, pinning him up against the wall. John wasn’t nearly as surprised as he thought Jack had expected him to be. He always knew Jack couldn’t resist him, “Won’t Eye Candy be pissed if he catches us?”

Jack smirked, “His name’s Ianto and this was his idea,”

John raised an eyebrow at that and then he passed out. Jack grabbed a swab from behind him and wiped his lips, “Paralysing isn’t the only type of lip gloss I wear,” he said as he leant down and flung John over his shoulders.

“What did you do?” Martha asked, “Is he dead,”

Jack shook his head, “Just unconscious. He’ll wake up soon. In the meantime, Ianto, we need to get him into a cell,”

Ianto grabbed a spare pair of Owen’s scrubs and followed Jack down to the vaults. Jack opened the cell next door to Janet and dumped John on the floor and immediately began stripping him. As he took his clothing off, he handed it to Ianto who folded it neatly. Although he frowned in disgust as Jack handed him his t-shirt. It was positively revolting. Perhaps he would just burn this. God knows how many diseases it was carrying.

Jack pulled John’s wristband off him and smiled in triumph before swapping it for the scrubs with Ianto. Ianto looked down at the naked form of John as he took the wristband, “Definitely smaller than yours,” he said.

Jack smiled happily at that and turned round to finish pulling the scrubs onto John. Once he was done he put him in the recovery position and followed Ianto out of the cell.

The two of them stood and watched his unconscious form for a couple of minutes, “How long will he be out for?” Ianto asked.

Jack looked at his watch, “He should wake up in a half hour,” he said as he shook his head slightly, “I mean really, you would think he would have learned by now. After all I taught him everything he knows,”

Ianto looked at him, “Oh really? Even the thing with the…”

“Yes, even that,”

“Hmm, well… now we’re free of the babysitters, you fancy a trip to the archives?”

Jack turned and looked at Ianto, “Race you,” he said before running out of the vaults.

Ianto took off after him, “Jack that’s not fair. I’m carrying all his crap…”

Jack spun round and begun running backwards, “All’s fair in love and war Ianto,”

Ianto growled as he sped up. Jack had turned back round and was running properly again but his laughter slowed him down, allowing Ianto to catch him just before he slipped through the door that led to the main archives.

“This way,” Ianto said as he dragged him down a side corridor and through a door that Jack hadn’t been through before.

“Where did they go?” Martha asked. They had all been watching Jack and Ianto on the CCTV, only the audio hadn’t been clear enough and so they couldn’t quite make out what the two had been saying to each other before they ran out.

“God knows,” Owen said, “Looking for the two of them in here is like looking for a needle in a haystack,”

“How come?” Mickey asked.

“No one knows this place better than those two,” Gwen said, “They could hide away from us for days if they wanted,”

“I’ll try and pull up the thermo imaging. See if that helps any,” Tosh suggested.

Everyone stood and waited to see two hot spots on the screen but there was nothing. Except for one room, which was registering as hot itself.

“Could they be in there?” Rose asked.

“It’s possible,” Tosh nodded, “Except, how do you get there from the cells? There’s no connecting corridors,”

“Well there’s got to be a door. I mean, all rooms have doors or at least some way to get in and out,” Donna said, “Why don’t we go down and look,”

“No point,” Gwen said, “By the time we find them they’ll be finished,”

Everyone frowned and looked back at the screen, “I’m starving, who wants a curry?” Owen asked as he held up his phone.

Ianto had dragged Jack into what Jack now realised was a short cut to the furnace room. He hadn’t been down to the furnace in over twenty years and it was strange to be back there. It hadn’t changed one bit, apart from perhaps being a little tidier. Ianto’s doing obviously.

However as neat as it was, it was still filthy, grimy and not to mention, sweltering hot.

“I don’t know about you, but I need a shower,” Jack said as he pulled his t-shirt back on.

Ianto was buttoning up his shirt and stopped to sniff himself, “How long we got till he wakes up?”

Jack checked his watch again, “Ten minutes,” he said as he stepped forward and begun fixing Ianto’s collar, “But we don’t need to be there when he wakes up. Let’s leave him to stew for a bit,”

Ianto grinned, “Shower’s it is then,”

Jack had led them through the underground passages to the back entrance to his bedroom. Only he and Ianto knew about it, which was just the way he liked it. Ianto dumped John’s stuff on top of Jack’s dresser before he began to strip. Jack stood and watched the view for a moment before deciding to follow his lead and got naked.

They actually weren’t in the shower for that long. It was the getting dressed again that was the problem. It kept getting interrupted by kisses and caresses and laughter. But eventually, they were ready to face the world again.

As Gwen came back in arms laden with carrier bags of take away food, she paused as she saw Jack and Ianto climbing out of Jack’s bedroom.

“They came back then?” she asked.

Everyone turned in surprise as they watched Ianto and Jack come out of his office hand in hand and in completely different outfits to what they had on earlier.

“How did you do that?” Donna asked.

“Do what?” Jack asked back.

“Get in there without us seeing?”

Jack looked at Ianto and the two of them shared a knowing smile, “Now that would be telling,” Jack said with a wink, “Is that food?”

Gwen was about to answer when the sound of John shouting came from one of Tosh’s monitors. He was stood in the middle of the cell punching at the glass and cursing Jack up and down.

“Are we feeding him?” Gwen asked.

“Maybe later,” Jack said, “Meanwhile we need to figure out how to use this along with the keys to pull the Doctor out of the Rift,”

Everyone stared at the small leather wristband he was waving.

“You knew all along he wouldn’t be able to get you a wristband,” Martha said with a grin.

“Of course I did. I’m smart as well as pretty,”

“I can’t believe you tricked him,” Rose said with a grin of her own.

"Oh, believe it," Jack grinned and ripped open the bag of prawn crackers, rather proud of himself.
