Unknown (original) (raw)
KV 30 is located in the south branch of the southwest Wadi. The tomb lies about 40 m (131 feet) north from KV 32. It consists of a shaft (A), a corridor (B) leading into a chamber (C), and four side chambers (Ca-d). The rock is of good quality, but is roughly cut. James Burton recorded a mason mark as "red characters in chamber of pit."
Noteworthy features:
The unusual design of the tomb with its multiple side chambers is similar to KV 5 (but on a smaller scale), and also to KV 12 and KV 27.
No details are available about the history of the tomb. KV 30 or 31 could have been the original location of an Dynasty 18 quartz-sandstone anthropoid Sarcophagus found by Belzoni in 1817 and donated to the British Museum by the Earl of Belmore.
