Record-breaking Angel Reese extends herdouble-double streak. The Chicago Sky rookie posted 15 consecutive double-double games, breaking Candace Parker’s record of 12 consecutive double-double games.

Parker’s record was set across the 2009 and 2010 seasons, and she held it for more than a decade.

“I think it’s unbelievable what she’s been able to accomplish,” Parker said at the ESPYs. “It’s been so cool to see her relish in people telling her she can’t and she won’t be successful. To see her grow throughout this season has been remarkable.”

“She’s a rebounding machine and we saw that in college,” she continues. “And I know she took the fuel of people saying is it going to translate, and she’s done just that in this early round.”

Angel Reese extends her double-double streak, but that’s not the only record she’s set.

Drafted seventh in the 2024 WNBA Draft by the Sky out of LSU, Reese is the WNBA’s all-time leader in single-season total rebounds (446) and offensive rebounds (172).

A 2024 WNBA All-Star, Reese is the first league player in league history to record three consecutive games of 20 or more rebounds.

Due to a wrist injury, Reese has finished her rookie season playing 34 games, averaging 13.6 points, a league leader with 13.1 rebounds, and 1.9 assists.

“[Winning] is what’s most important to me,” Reese told ESPN. “I think I’ve done a great job, being able to be consistent and I’ve broken the record already. So [I want to] be able to just be me and do whatever my teammates need.”

Reese is a team player who wants her team to succeed.

From fans to her coach, Reese is a favorite on and off the court.

“She goes hard, she’s not out there for records, she’s out there for wins,” Chicago coach Teresa Weatherspoon told AP News. “She puts in the work, it just so happens every time you look at the stat sheet there she is again with a double-double. I’m sure she’d want the win more than just the double-double.”

Reese has been handling her professional career with a level head and grace.

“I don’t think about the Rookie of the Year stuff,” Reese told ESPN. “Obviously I’m just here to win. I want to make it to the playoffs, go as far as we can. Chicago deserves something big.

“Being able to come back to Chicago where Candace Parker played and I’m breaking records, I don’t want to be named unless I’m a winner, and being able to bring that championship back home in Chicago is something I’m looking forward to,” she continued.

Angel Reese extends double-double streak and while she’s out for the remainder of the season, fans can’t wait till she comes back and wish her a speedy recovery.
