So, of course, my current project on this comm is Beautiful Monster, but I haven't actually had the time to get around to finalizing much of anything until the last month or so. I've gotten quite a bit of actual writing done (for me, anyway) but it's only that lately I've been getting around to getting things publish-ready.
Anyway, the prologue will be uploaded as soon as possible. Can't wait. :3

Warnings: Possible homoerotic undertones, gore, disturbing imagery, angst, brief incestuous undertones.
Challenge/Inspiration: Inspired by the fairytale Little Red Riding Hood, although the actual novel deviates from it quite a bit. The bulk of the first five chapters or so was written for NaNoWriMo 2009.
Summary: In a world where a chosen few are alters - green-eyed humans born with the ability to transform into a beast - prejudice runs rampant and violence rages. Finnegan Gaffer, green-eyed but lacking the alter gene, experiences this prejudice first-hand despite his inability to shape-shift, living a lonely, secluded life in the country of Alyske. When war over alter slavery erupts and Finn's father dies, he is forced to escape the murderous intent of both his half-brother Phelan and the Alyskin government, seeking out a foreign alter guide to take him through the frozen wilderness of the north to the town in the mountains where his grandmother resides and, hopefully, where he will find temporary sanctuary. But militant pursuers and the insane Phelan promise it will not be an easy trip, and Finnegan's guide, Tósha, is as much a mystery as anything.
