Important Deadlines for Researchers

  1. Annually, all doctoral students must submit a progress report on their research activities in the current academic year, and the planned activities for the upcoming academic year. The form required is located on the Faculty webpage under "Forms": "Progress report (yearly)".
  2. ABAP members are expected to submit an additional two reports each academic year:

For more information, please visit the webpages created for AAP/BAP members, or consult the FTRW ABAP Toledo community.

Buddies

Every first-year student is appointed a buddy at the beginning of their program. A buddy is a student in the second or third year of their PhD program who can provide some support and guidance to make the first year a little less daunting.

Here you can find the 2023-2024 academic year allocation.

Health and Wellbeing

KU Leuven provides various services that aim to safeguard and foster the health and wellbeing of students and staff members. Please familiarise yourself with the offers of the KU Leuven University Parish (English-speaking, and Dutch-speaking), Health department (you can also follow them on Facebook, and Instagram), and Sports Centre (because physical activity has numerous health benefits, including the reduction of stress, and anxiety). Our Faculty also provides staff and students with the opportunity to meet with a spiritual director, namely, Walter Ceyssens (SJ). To make an appointment, email walter.ceyssens@jesuits.net. He is located in the Library (Maurits Sabbebibliotheek).

If you have questions, make sure you reach out to someone. You are never alone. Please speak to your promotor, contact the study advisor, make an appointment with the Social Service or a psychologist, or drop-into the University Parish on a weekday morning to chat with a chaplain.

Additionally, the Community Help Service provides information, support, and mental health services to anyone in Belgium. The organisation also operates a 24/7 helpline in English for people experiencing mental health issues, including frustration, loneliness, anxiety, and suicide ideation. Calls are free of charge, anonymous, and confidential. You can reach them on: +32 (0) 2 648 40 14.

Furthermore, the Flemish Government has released the platform, MoodSpace, which provides students with access to a wide range of support services, and reliable information about mental health.

A Safe Environment for All

All those who visit, study, or work at KU Leuven must feel safe within the university. Thus, visitors, students, and staff are expected to treat everyone with respect.

KU Leuven offers services for those who experience or witness unacceptable behaviour. There are designated and trained student contact persons, and staff members who you can talk to. If necessary, appropriate measures will be taken to end the unacceptable conduct. For more information, please visit the 'Diversity and Social Safety' page.
