minstrelsy to mountain music

its all about the banjo, from building and fixing, to playing, listening, and learning. hopefully, this community will become a place where people will post everything from advice on technique, to interesting articles, photographs, mp3s, and queries of all sorts. personally, i hope that emphasis will remain on old-time styles, but theres no reason why bluegrass banjo cant play a part, too.

hand

i will, in time, try to make this community into something of an information source about the history of the banjo, explaining its evolution in america and giving examples of different styles and techniques, replete with mp3s, photographs, and video clips. i do hope, though, that others will take up this task along with me. until then, this community will probably be a bunch of posts about my banjoing.

but regardless, post anything you like. . .just post!

but first, listen to our motto
