I just caught up with the latest episode of Dexter and oh my god. I loved it so much I actually at one point cried from joy a little? There were tears.
So basically from now on Skyfall is my example of how to write a gay (/bisexual?) villain in an offensive and stereotype-y way, and this season of Dexter is my example of how to write a gay villain really well. I've seen people squeeing about Silva, but seriously, they just put in the 'gay scene' to make him seem threatening. Whereas Sirko being gay is not what makes him threatening. What makes him threatening is that he is A SCARILY EFFICIENT AND DETERMINED MURDERER. The fact he is gay is what makes him a multidimentional character.
I THINK I MAYBE FRIEND-SHIP DEXTER AND SIRKO NOW? WHOOPS, MOST DOOMED SHIP OF ALL TIME.
I still really fucking love every moment Hannah and Dexter are on screen together. UGH WHEN HE ADMITTED TO HER SIRKO WAS AFTER HIM AND SHE JUST TALKED THROUGH SOME PROBLEM SOLVING POSSIBLITIES WITH HIM RATHER THAN FREAKING OUT. PERFECT. PERFECT.
I really enjoyed seeing Astor and Cody again! :DDD I kind of love Dexter and Deb trying to parent her. She seems like she just needs someone to listen to and accept her, TBH. I hope they actually explore what's going on with her a little more.

I love everything about the Deb/Dexter/Hannah love triangle. I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT.
Also I retroactively forgive Deb for how she was talking about Lumen a couple of episodes ago, because clearly she was just jealous. *__*

This whole episode was just about all the themes I wanted it to be about. DEXTER'S NEED FOR LOVE AND ACCEPTANCE. OTHER CHARACTER'S NEED FOR LOVE AND ACCEPTANCE IN PARALLEL TO DEXTER'S NEED FOR LOVE AND ACCEPTANCE. DEXTER AND DEBRA HAVING SUBTEXTUAL CONVERSATIONS WITH EACH OTHER WHILE BOTHER HAVING A CONVERSATION WITH SOMEONE ELSE ABOUT AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT TOPIC. DEB SMOKING WEED.
