heya, i'm new to this community, so bare with me (and my spelling), and forgive me if this isn't the right place for this.
i basically have a few questions regarding the tree of life as well as aleister crowely. basically, i don't have any of crowly's books as i'm broke as a joke and where i live, books of the sort are difficult to come by. but i've been looking online, and i was on Thelemapedia.org reading about the tree of life which all the correspondences and stuff have been taken out of crowely's 777. But ther's a few bits that are in question marks, such as the Devine name of Briah in the fourth sepheroth, Chesed.
I also don't understand what it means when it says "Lineal figures of the planets, &c., and geomancy". I can figure out what the lineal figures of the planets and geomancy are, but i don't kow what &c is. At firt i thought it was a typo, but it has it for each sepheroth.
I assume the book itself would have more information on these, but as i don't have access to it, i'm wonderin if any one might bbe able to shed some light on it for me, or at least direct me to some sites which might be able to.
also, regarding the tree of life, i have read in various things that each sepheroth also conatin another tree of life inside them, and i was wondering how to interperate each of those inner trees. i'm sure there's a whole mess of information which goes along with the answer to this question, but once again, i'm just looking to be pointed in the right direction is all.

5:19PM - Kabalah and astrology?

I'm reading RJ Stewart's book on Kabalah, The Miracle Tree. He doesn't use the Hebrew names in this book. He only calls them #th Emanation, and he introduces them with their planetary correspondence. I'm staring to see connections between the planets in astrology and the corresponding spheres. I'm really just a beginner, so I'm wondering if there is any good material exploring the astrology-Kabalah connection more in depth?

10:53PM - Element Correspodence to Sefirot

If you do - where do you place the Aristolean Elements on your Tree? I've seen so many different systems, with varying logic behind them.

Example #1:
Tiferet - Fire
Hod - Air
Netzach - Water
Malchut - Earth

Example #2:
Netzach - Fire
Hod - Water
Yesod - Air
Malchut - Earth

Etc. I'm also interested in your reasons for doing this, be it path or author preference, logic, tradition, etc.

I have recently been reading some path working books using tarot and the Qabalah (Ellen Cannon Reed if you must know) Some of what I am reading borders heavily on the Jungian archetype self exploration psychoanalysis using tarots as entry ways into qabalistic paths. What I want to know is that has anyone written any book or material on psychoanalysis using qabalistic archetypes and paths as aspects of self? It seems as though path working particularly qabalistic path working could be used as a form of self analysis. I am wondering has this been done and written about? Please let me know. and let me know are there authors you would suggest .

what I am getting at is using qabalistic pathworking as a theraputic form of self analysis and to deal with mundane problems by looking at them through the perspective and prism of the paths and sephiroth

11:09PM - Egyptian Qabalah ?

Its entirely my fault - I joined one of those horrid yahoogroups and now this gal is swearing that the Jews "stole" Qabalah from the Egyptians and its actually called "Ha Qabala". Now, I know quite a few Kemetic Orthodox folks and though they research KBLH, I've never heard them mention anything of the sort.

Has anyone heard/seen this? Here's the link (notice no source material or bibliographies) and pre-advanced warning: the Hebrew is horribly misspelled!

12:12AM - A bit more depth on Da'at/h

I've been thinking about this one for some time, especially after the last discussion on this and so went back to the books. Da'at/h exists in the Chassidm works on KBLH, its definately seen in the more Jewish texts, though often mentioned in the gnostic and pagan works, as well.

Here's an example from older Jewish KBLH texts:
The five kindnesses and five mights of the right and left eyes discussed in the letter ayin are in fact the dual manifestations of the sefirah of da'at, knowledge, as taught in Kabbalah. Da'at is the power of union and communication. Providence is the power of da'at as revealed by the eyes. The power of da'at as revealed by the mouth - speech - is the more explicit form of contact and communication between individuals. Just as in the verse: "and Adam knew his wife Eve," "knew," the power of da'at, refers to the physical union of man and wife, so is "speech" idiomatically used by our Sages to refer to such union. So are we taught in the Zohar: "[the power of] da'at is concealed in the mouth."
Da'at, contact, at the level of the eyes, is the secret of the written Torah. In reading the written Torah in the synagogue service the reader must see every letter of the Torah scroll. Sometimes a "silver finger" is used to point, direct one's sight, to every word. Contact at the level of the mouth is the secret of the Oral Torah.

So, its in the Zohar and in modern Hassidic works, considered part of KBLH by Rabbi Yisrael Ba'al Shem Tov (founder of the Chassidic movement), Rabbi Yitzchak Ginsburgh's more modern works and a concept taught within Chassidut. The sephirah term is specifically used, as you see above.

If Keter is the unclosing eye of the Creator, then perhaps its inclusion is questionable. As in Malkuth, as it is the Earthly realm, which is denoted by the oft-seen dashed lines. So, since it exists in the older Jewish texts...what happened to it in the gnostic, CM and other texts. (I'm leaving out pagan, as the two pagan KBLH authors both mention it, as well).

Things to ponder.

9:46PM - A bit curious about Daath

I've been doing quite a lot of research on the Tree from various perspectives (pagan, gnostic, ceremonial, Jewish, etc.), of late, and after a few conversations regarding my research project with my HP realized most folks don't include Daath in their tree.

So, I'm curious about those who do or don't and why. More so if you can link it to a particular school of study, tradition, etc. and personal experience via meditation, visualizations, etc.

I have noticed that many High magicians who practice quabalistic rituals, dont have any purely quabalistic holidays on their calendar. Usually they follow a Thelemic calendar (complete with celebration of Crowley's B day) or they follow the regular ceremonial/astrological calendar i.e.: solstices/ equinox etc, or they follow a loose Wicca based calendar (Mabon, Imbolc etc).

Does anyone know of any purely ceremonial quabalistic type celebrations or holidays? Do people celebrate the writing of the Zohar? or the supposed birthdays of luminaries like Regardie, Moses de Leon etc... or more likely do people just follow the Jewish calendar with special emphasis on certain holidays?

please educate us ..."not in the know folks"

oh yeah and if you have any quabalistic info, news, events discussions etc you want to discuss feel free to join and post in those two communities.

2:51PM - Are all versions equal or are some better? : the zohar and a copy of the psalms

Is there a definitive version of the Zohar that one should purchase? Also does anyone know the best version of the old testament psalms to buy that would be best in keeping with Jewish mystic traditions.

I find myself unsure of what are the most reputable versions of each text.
