thesocietypages - Profile (original) (raw)
The Society Pages came to be in the summer of 1956 when Winnifred Herefordshire, a bored housewife, decided to do something with her life. TSP was inspired by two previous publications. The Madoc Review used to have a society page in the Late 1800s when Craven Burlington was still a boy. The second publication was actually a yearly family update put out by the Burlington Family soon after Craven married Laverna Empey. This publication inspired our subtitle, the House of Burlington.
Ms. Herefordshire first began publishing as a sort of small type-written zine until the Marmora Miner picked up the column in their paper. Eventually, TSP was running in all the local pages and the rest was history.
The Society Pages updates randomly, but frequently. Everything is manually cross-posted from the tumblr and the LJ may be behind the tumblr.
