Effect of a circumferential ferrule on the survival and success of endodontically treated teeth restored with fiber posts: A systematic review and meta-analysis

These allergies can arise from allergic or anaphylactic responses triggered by commonly utilised dental materials in routine dental procedures or potentially result from the use of specific medications. This case presents a unique scenario involving a patient who sought prosthetic crowns following maxillary anterior teeth endodontic treatment. During the cementation of the prosthesis with glass ionomer cement, the patient unexpectedly experienced an acute allergic reaction in her upper lip. The patient received reassurance and was prescribed a 3-day course of oral corticosteroids and antihistamines, resulting in symptom relief within 24 h. This paper seeks to raise awareness among clinicians about the potential for contact allergic reactions and aims to emphasise the presentation and management of the uncommon incidence of angioedema during prosthodontic procedures.

Stainless steel wire reinforced composite splint is a viable treatment modality with the use of acrylic tooth as pontic provides both the aesthetic and functional purpose of stabilizing the adjacent mobile teeth. This treatment option is economical, fast, and easy to perform chairside technique. This case series presents three cases of missing mandibular anterior teeth with periodontally compromised abutments which were replaced with acrylic teeth as pontic using stainless steel wire reinforced composite splints.

The replacement of the lost eye as soon as possible after the surgery is necessary to improve social acceptance and quality of life. Multidisciplinary management and team approach between surgeon and prosthodontist are essential in providing accurate and effective rehabilitation and follow-up care for the patient. Although various treatment modalities are available it may not be advisable for all the patients due to some medical conditions or economic factors. The present article describes a simplified technique for the fabrication of a Room Temperature Vulcanized (RTV) silicone orbital prosthesis to achieve optimal fit and esthetics.

Almost all of the dental procedures involve dealing with the saliva, blood and oral fluids which may have sufficient pathogens and cause cross infection through contaminated instruments, materials and surfaces. Therefore, the dental health care workers must be aware of the possible contamination and should follow the measures to prevent it. AIM: The aim of the study is to evaluate the knowledge, awareness and practice of the undergraduate students, interns and PGTs toward infection control measures during prosthodontic treatment with their future perception. MATERIALS AND METHOD: A self-assessment questionnaire-based survey was carried out among undergraduate students, interns and post graduate students of Dept. of Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge of various dental colleges of West Bengal to assess the knowledge and perception of infection control. Survey contain...
