THIS WAS THE MODERN WORLD (original) (raw)

[21 Sep 2005|10:35pm]
*dusts this off*Well, it's getting to be the fall and that means it's time for the station to get up and running again! This Was the Modern World will be on Saturdays, 9 o'clock PST, starting on October 1. England was great and I came back with lots of wonderful things to play for you all this year.Another new addition is the This Was the Modern World blog. The Livejournal community will stick around, because it's a fine forum-format and I like it, but there will be more information, more regular updates, and song file downloads on the blog.So keep the first free and I'll see you then!

And so it goes... [11 Mar 2005|12:45am]
Well, we're coming onto the end of the quarter. This Saturday is the last show of the winter. Not only of the winter, but of the year as well.I'm off to study in England for the spring, which means that This Was The Modern World is drawing to a close. Hopefully it'll be picked up in the fall, but nothing is certain. So make sure to tune in this week! In honor of my upcoming change in location, this show will be special- London Calling! All of my favorite English artists (or at least as much as I can cram in), played for you.I hope you've all enjoyed listening to This Was the Modern World at least as half as much as I've enjoyed putting it together. Putting the show together has always been the highlight of my week. Most everything I do goes towards making it the best it can be. I hope it's worked for you all. That's enough being mushy. Tune in this week for a great show, and I'll see you next year!

**( Two December shows and we call it a year...Collapse )**Well, the end of the quarter comes up so fast, and already this week it's the end of the month. In honor of the end of the year, I'm bringing up an idea that I've had for awhile now. When I do my show I want to get as many bands in there as I can. Since I've only got two hours, that means I tend to play shorter songs, usually around 3-4 minutes long. But some of my favorite songs go far beyond that (damn them!), and while I still want to play them I've always cut them out for being too lengthy.Well, not this week.Tune in Saturday night for Long Time Coming, a short list of all my favorite long songs. Classics from Television, the Cure, and David Bowie are promised. And, as always, it will be a rocking good time.

Next week's show [24 Oct 2004|03:53pm]
As those of you listening in yesterday (and I hope everyone was), I'm planning to do a goth show for the end-of-the-month next week. Which means this week I'm formulating my playlist. That's where you come in. Is there anything that you really want to hear, or anything you think that I would be crazy not to play? I want to make this fabulous.Or, um, dark. Right. That's what it is.Also, if you have an idea for a witty title, let me know. The witty-title section of my brain is zapped due to midterms.
