Drunken driving

BANGALORE: Who says only men can get booked for drunken driving? A woman speeding in her car after consuming liquor was booked by the police on Sunday night.
On Monday, a court slapped a fine of Rs 1,600 on her. The woman who was caught and fined has been identified as Sharan Mary (23), a resident of RT Nagar.
Ulsoor traffic police who were conducting a drive against traffic offenders on Sunday night spotted a zipping car near Ramaiah Circle and stopped the car.

Mary was driving the car with four others inside. She was subjected to a drunken drive check using an alcometer after the former argued that she was not drunk.

The reading indicated that she had consumed liquor beyond permissible level with a reading of 68 per cent (prescribed level is 30 per cent).
Police stopped her from driving the car any further. A case was booked against her and she was sent home with a rider to appear before the magistrate the next morning.
The magistrate imposed a fine and let Mary go after she paid the amount.
