Oscar-nominated filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker's recently released film 'Panipat' might have run into some trouble post its release but looks like the periodic drama is having difficulty alluring the audience to the theatres as well.

The Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Sanjay Dutt starrer which revolves around the epic battle of Panipat has managed to mint Rs 2.25 crore at the
box office
on its first Tuesday, according to the latest Boxofficeindia.com report.
With a total collection of Rs 22.25 crore from five days, 'Panipat' looks to be having a similar fate as 'Paglapanti' which turned out to be a flop.
Despite the leading actor's stellar performances, the film has fizzled out in many parts of the country with business in Maharashtra also turning out to be poor. Gowariker's periodic drama has also been facing a backlash in Rajasthan due to 'wrong facts' being projected in the film. The hashtag #boycottpanipat had also gone viral a few days ago when netizens took to social media to voice their opinion about the wrong facts being projected in the film.
Talking about the controversies that the film has been mired in leading actor Arjun opened up to IANS and said, "The only thing I know is our film takes place 20 years after the time of 'Bajirao Mastani' time. So, we have pretty much followed the timeline and there has been an entire film made on 'Bajirao Mastani'. I don't where we could have gone wrong."
