Well-known fashion designer Neeta Lulla has been roped in to create the costumes for Ashutosh Gowariker’s upcoming magnum opus — ‘
Panipat
’. This won’t be the first time that Neeta, a National Award-winning designer, is working with Gowariker. In fact, the two have collaborated on ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ and ‘Mohenjo Daro’ in the past. Recently, Neeta even designed costumes for Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming film — ‘Manikarnika’.
Talking about ‘Panipat’, which will be a period film, she said, “Peshwa’s historical and traditional lineage will reflect in the costumes of the film. Ashutosh Gowariker is a visionary and working with him is always a treat. We will create magic through our costumes and give fluidity to the narrative through our well researched styling.”
‘Panipat’ stars Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Sanjay Dutt in the lead roles and is reportedly based on the third battle of Panipat that took place in 1761. While Arjun plays the role of Maratha leader Sadashivrao Bhau, Dutt will be playing Ahmad Shah Durrani. Art director Nitin Desai will recreate

for the film at a well-known studios. The makers of the film are hoping to release it on December 6, 2019.
Gowariker also spoke about working with Neeta. Speaking to a daily, he said, “It has been wonderful working with Neeta, especially on the Rajput and Mughal dressing, followed by the Gujarati and Bengali styles. Her range is fantastic. And now, I am looking forward to working with her on the Maharashtrian dressing and more, in ‘Panipat’.”
