and it was a moment of pride.
Recently, 38-year-old
Tista Das
, tied the knot with his groom, 40-year-old Dipan Chakraborty, making them the first transgender couple to tie the knot in the state of West Bengal.
They underwent a sex reassignment surgery before tying the knot. Dubbed as the state’s first “rainbow wedding”, they celebrated their special day with family and friends by their side. Tista, originally born as Susanto, underwent a sex change around 15 years ago.
Tista said, “I always believed love has no gender and Dipan and I have proved it.” Dipan, was born as Dipannita. He said, “I am extremely lucky to have Tista as my wife. This is the best day of my life.” Further, speaking to the Times of India, Tista expressed: “We are feeling awesome, actually! We are out of the gender box and we love to be an exception. We think this is a strong bond between us, it’s a bond of love. It’s a bond of liberty also, and this is the solidarity of our souls.”
