Shared Socioeconomic Pathways | Scenario Explorer hosted by IIASA (original) (raw)

The Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSPs) are a set of scenarios that describe potential future developments in society, economics, and demographics until the end of the 21st century.

This Explorer presents the basic drivers of the SSPs and the scenarios developed with global Ingrated Assessment Models (IAMs).

The SSP framework consists of five storylines describing a spectrum from high to low challenges to adaptation (e.g., level of vulnerability in a society) and challenges to mitigation (e.g., carbon intensity of GDP).

SSP-Extensions Scenario Explorer

The quantified key drivers of the SSPs have been extended in scientific literature to include quantitative assessments of narrative elements not explicitly modeled in the original scenarios. Additional socio-economic dimensions can be explored through the SSP-Extensions Scenario Explorer, which offers expanded projections.
