_7:50 pm_[danparables] ~All I Want for Christmas is to Free Sudanese Slaves~ _(This message is for all believers in unity of the faith. X-Posted Elsewhere)_It's that time of the year! We go Christmas shopping. We go to parties and drink spiked egg nog (if we're old enough). We see our families. We celebrate and remember Jesus Christ's birth in Christmas Eve services around the world! It's debatably the happiest of time of year. This jubilee is not shared by everyone. There are the lonely (including internationals) without families that we need to bring to our home celebrations; there are soldiers serving around the world that we need to support; and yes, there are slaves.( Read more...Collapse ) (Comment on this)

_12:54 pm_[fathfulonly2him] Whatever your heart clings to is your God. -Martian Luther (2 Comments |Comment on this)
_7:15 am_[fathfulonly2him] Jude 1:4 I say this because some godless people have wormed their way in among you, saying that God's forgiveness allows us to live immortal lives. The fate of such people was determined long ago, for they have turned against our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ. Because people think theology is dry, they avoid studying the Bible. Those who refuse to learn correct doctrine, however, are susceptible to false teaching because they are not fully grounded in God's truth. We must understand the basic doctrines of our faith so that we can recognize false doctrines and prevent them from hurting us and others.Yesterday, I read Galatians and the entire book dealt with false teaching. Brothers and sisters, we need to be firm in the beliefs that the bible teaches us. If you plan on going through life without our handbook you are no good in this spiritual battle that we are in, and you going to fall prey to Satan. There is not a day that goes by that Satan doesn't try to make me question God and debate His promises to me. Satan wants to separate and DESTROY. Do not be ignorant to him nor his attacks.Condemn me, hate me, and debate these words being so blunt, it's up to you. In fact call me judgemental if you like, but fact remains, Christians, this world is a battle. Satan has no hold on me as long as I walk in truth and spirit. Test my spirit if you will. The bible says you should test all spirits. Test this post against the bible. May you all walk in the Salvation of Christ, the love of God, and the peace of the Holy Spirit~Kristal (4 Comments |Comment on this)

_12:14 pm_[fathfulonly2him] Does life have any purpose? or Are you just 'chasing the wind' in terms of living for God? Does each day feel routine? How many feel like, "I love God and I want to serve Him, but I also want to be earthly loved and enjoy certain habits and friends I used too"? Can't I just do both? Am I angry that God loves all the people that can do the same things that I want to do? How come I have been called to live a more Godly life and I have to do this, but they are still children of God?( Read more...Collapse ) Current Mood: Forgiven (Comment on this)
_8:57 am_[fathfulonly2him] Did you know we are in a battle? No, I don't mean in the Middle East, but in right where you are. All around you. If we were going to the Middle East, would you not make certain preparations? What would you bring? Shoes? A gun? Water? The list could go on for a while. One really important thing that you would do is probably some exercising for strength and endurance. While we may not see a physical battle going on around us Ephesians 6:10-12 talks about what exactly we are fighting.A final word: Be strong with the Lord's mighty power. 11 Put on all of God's armor so the you will be able to stand firm against the all the strategies and tricks of the Devil. 12 For we are not fighting against flesh and blood, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms. Below is a chart of God's Armor; The chart is based on Ephesians 6:13-17.Piece of Armor: BELT Use: Truth Application: Satan fights with lies, and sometimes his lies sound like truth; but believers have God's truth, which can defeat Satan's lies. Piece of Armor: BODY ARMOR Use: God's righteousness Application: Satan often attacks our heart-the seat of our emotions, self-worth, and trust. God's righteousness is the breastplate that protects our heart and ensures his approval. He approves of us because we have trusted Christ to save us and cleanse our hearts from sin. Piece of Armor: SHOES Use: The peace that comes from the Good News Application: Satan wants us to think that telling others the Good News is a worthless and hopeless task-the size of the task is too big, and the negative responses are too much to handle. But the "shoes" God gives us are the true peace that is available in God, which prepares us to share the news with others. Piece of Armor: SHIELD Use: Faith Application: The shield of faith protects us from Satan's fiery darts in the form of insults, setbacks, and temptations. With God's perspective, we can see beyond our circumstances and know that ultimate victory is ours. Piece of Armor: HELMET Use: Salvation Application: Satan wants to make us doubt God, Jesus, and out salvation. The helmet protects our mind from doubting God’s saving work for us. Piece of Armor: SWORD Use: The Word of God Application: The sword is the only weapon of offense in this list of armor. There are times when we need to take the offensive against Satan. When we are tempted, we need to trust in the truth of God’s Word. Ephesians 6:18 Pray at all times and on every occasion in power of the Holy Spirit. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all Christians everywhere. Link (Comment on this)

_9:00 am_[fathfulonly2him] Don't wait till the New Year to worry about getting in shape! Christians must eat the right "spiritual food": God's Word. Many of us are trying to survive on spiritual "fast food." That is, we watch Christian TV, read Christian magazines, listen to Christian music, and listen to the Word being told to us, but we rarely give attention to God's Word. There is only one food that will nourish our soul-reading the Bible. All these others things can only act as a supplement keeping you healthy; such as viatimns.Christians exercise through resisting temptation, enduring trials, serving others, and telling others about our faith. We need to be pushed to stay strong. This means exercise. Temptation and problems test our character; serving others stretches our faith; telling people about Christ strenghtens our devotion.Christians rest through worship. Our world has a tendency to tighten us, like a rubber band being pulled to the limit. Unless we take time weekly (and daily!) to recognize and worship God, he won't have the opportunity to minister to our needs. We need sleep, rest, and times of vacation to get our physical batteries recharged. In the same way, we need worship to keep us spiritually renewed.Spiritual growth takes time-a lifetime! This means growing in relationship, not just changing our behavior. Growing a strong Christian life means learning how to love the person of Jesus Christ more each day, staying close to him and getting to know him better. Ephesians 5:11 Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, rebuke and expose them.5:15 So be careful how you live, not as fools but as those who are wise. 16 Make the most of every opportunity for doing good in these evil days. 17 Don't ask thoughtlessly, but try to understand what the Lord wants you to do. 18 Don't be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, let the Holy Spirit fill and control you.Current Mood: Smiling! (Comment on this)

_7:20 pm_[fathfulonly2him] To all His sheep; my family in Christ: He sends us out as sheep amonst wolves. We WILL come across many 'professing christians' that appear to be holy with sharp ideas and 'worldly' accepted "wisdom". How does one get to the point of accurate discernment? That said, how does one know when His heavenly Father is calling or trickery of a well-versed, knowledgable wolf? Let me answer this friends, with the only unfalliable doctrine that we know: the Bible, Our one and only God, Father, and Friend's guidebook to Life and love letter to His children. :) ::that makes me proud and giddy ya'll:: ::sorry, I had a moment, but i'm back::Ephesians 4:11 He is the one who gave these gifts to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. 12 Their responsibility is to equip God's people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ, 13 until we come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God's Son that we will be mature and full grown in the Lord, measuring up to the full stature of Christ.14 Then we will no longer be like children, forever changing our minds about what we believe because someone has cleverly lied to us and made the lie sound like the truth. _11:47 am_[fathfulonly2him] Life is short no matter how long we live. Don't be deceived into thinking that you have lots of time to live for Christ, to enjoy your loved ones, or to do what you know you should. Live for God today! Then, no matter when your life ends, you will have fulfilled God's plan for you.It is good to have goals, but goals can disappoint us if we leave God out of them. There is no point in making plans as though God does not exist because the future is in his hands. What would you like to be doing ten years from now? One year from now? Tomorrow? How will you react if God steps in and rearranges your plans? Plan ahead, but hang on to your plans lightly. If you put God's desires at the center of your planning, you will not be disappointed. The Christian's most powerful resource is communion with God through prayer. The results are often greater than we thought were possible. Some people see prayer as a last resort to be tried when all else fails. This is backward. Prayer should come first. Because God's power is infinitely greater than our own, it only makes sense to rely on it-especially because God encourages us to do so.James 4:1 What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Isn't it the whole army of evil desires as war within you? 2 You want what you don't have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous for what others have, and you can't possess it, so you fight and quarrel to take it away from them. And yet the reason you don't have what you want is that you don't ask God for it. 3 And even when you do ask, you don't get it because you whole motive is wrong-you want only what will give you pleasure. Please, pray about the first verse, don't dismiss it as mainly referring to material things. It refers to wisdom, knowledge, calling, works, etc. 4 You adulterers! Don't you realize that friendship with this world makes you an enemy of God? 5 What do you think the Scriptures mean when they say that the Holy Spirit, whom God has placed within us, jealously longs for us to be faithful? 6 He gives us more and more strength to stand against such evil desires. As the Scriptures say, "God sets himself against the proud, but he shows favor to the humble." 7 So humble yourselves before God. Resist the Devil, and he will flee from you. Draw close to God, and God will draw close to you. (Comment on this)
_12:06 am_[fathfulonly2him] 1 Thessalonians: 2:4 For we speak as messengers who have been approved by God to be entrusted with the Good News. Our purpose is to please God, not people. He is the one who examines the motives of our hearts. 2:12 We pleaded with you, encouraged you, and urged you to live your lives in a way that God would consider worthy. For he called you into his Kingdom to share his glory.2:14 And then, dear brothers and sisters, you suffered persecution from your own countrymen. In this way, you imitated the believers in God's churches in Judea who, becuase of their belief in Christ Jesus, suffered from their own people, the jews. 15 For some of the Jews had killed their own prophets, and some even killed the Lord Jesus. Now they have persecuted us and driven us out. They displease God and oppose everyone 16 by trying to keep us from preaching the Good News to the Gentiles, for fear some might be saved. By doing this, they continue to pile up their sins. But the anger of God has caught up with them at last. Just as the Jewish Christians in Jerusalem were persecuted by their own people, so the Gentile Christians in Thessalonica were persecuted by their fellow Gentiles. It is discouraging to face persecution, esp. when it comes from your own people. But when we take a stand for Christ, we will face opposition, disapproval, ridicule, and even persecution from our neighbors, friends, adn even family members.4:1 Finally, dear brothers and sisters, we urge you in the name of the Lord Jesus to live in a way that pleases God, as we have taught you.4:7 God has called us to be holy, not to live impure lives. 8 Anyone who refuses to live by these rules is not disobeying human rules but is rejecting God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.4:11 This should be your ambition: to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we commanded you before. 12 As a result, people who are not Christians will respect the way you live, and you will not need to depend on others to meet your financial needs.5:2 For you know quite well that the day of the Lord will come unexpectedly like a thief in the night. 3 When people are saying, "All is well; everything is peaceful and secure," then disaster will fall upon them as suddenly as a woman's birth pains begin when her child is about to be born. And there will be no escape. 4 But you aren't in the dark about these things, dear brothers and sisters, and you won't be surprised when the day of the Lord comes like a thief. 5 For you are all children of the light and of the day; we don't belong to darkness and night. 6 So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be sober. 7 Night is the time for sleep and the time when people get drunk. 8 But let us who live in the light think clearly, protected by the body armor of faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the confidence of our salvation. 9 For God decided to save us through our Lord Jesus Christ, not to pour out his anger on us. 10 He died for us so that we can live with him forever, whether we are dead or alive at the time of his return. 11 So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.5:14 Brothers and sisters we urge you to warn those who are lazy. Encourage those who are timid. Take tender care of those who are weak. Be patient with everyone. 15 See that no one pays back evil with evil, but always try to do good to each other and everyone else. 16 Always be joyful. 17 Keep on praying. 18 No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.5:19 Do not stifle the Holy Spirit. 20 Do not scoff at prophecies, 21 but test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good. 22 Keep away from every kind of evil.As you near the end of a foot race, your legs ache, your throat burns, and your whole body cries out for you to stop. This is when friends and fans are most valuble. Their encouragement helps you pust through the pain to the finish. In the same way, Christians are to encourage one another. A word of encouragement offered at the right moment can be the difference between finishing well and collapsing along the way. Look around you. Be sensitive to others' need for encouragement and offer supportive words or actions. (Comment on this)

_2:30 pm_[fathfulonly2him] The rest on Colossians : ) 2:6 And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to live in obedience to him. Let your roots grow down into him and draw up nourishment from him, so you will grow in faith, strong and vigorous in the truth you were taught. Let your lives overflow with thanksgiving for all he has done.2:8 Don't let anyone lead you astray with empty philosophy and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the evil powers of this world, and not from Christ. 2:13 You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ. He forgave all our sins. 14 He canceled the record that contained the charges against us. He took it and destroyed it by nailing it to Christ's cross. 15 In this way, God disarmed the evil rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross of Christ.2:16 So don't let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new-moon ceremonies or Sabbaths. 17 For these rules were only shadows of the real thing, Christ himself. 18 Don't let anyone condemn you by insisting on self-denial. And don't let anyone say you must worship angels, even though they say they have had visions about this. These people claim to be humble, but their sinful minds have made them proud. 19 But they are not connected to Christ, the head of the body. For we are joined together in his body by his strong sinews, and we grow only as we get our nourishment and strength from God.2:20 You have died with Christ, and he has set you free from the evil powers of this world. So why do you keep on following rules of the world, such as, 21 "Don't handle, don't eat, don't touch." 22 Such rules are mere human teaching about things that are gone as soon as we use them. 23 These rules may seem wise because they require strong devotion, humility, and severe bodily discipline. But they have no effect when it comes to conquering a person's evil thoughts and desires.3:1 Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits at God's right hand in the place of honor and power. 2 Let heaven fill your thoughts. Do not think only about things down here on earth. 3 For you died when Christ, who is your real life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory. 3:5 So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual sin, impurity, lust, and shameful desires. Don't be greedy for the good things of this life, for that is idolatry. 6 God's terrible anger will come upon those who do such things. 7 You used to do them when your life was still part of this world. 8 But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language. 9 Don't lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old evil nature and all its wicked deeds. 10 In its place you have clothed yourselves with a brand-new nature that is continually being renewed as you learn more and more about Christ, who created this new nature within you. 3:12 Since God chose you to be the holy people whom he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. 13 You must make allowance for each other's faults and forgive the person who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. 14 And the most important piece of clothing you must wear is love. Love is what binds us all together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are all called to live in peace. And always be thankful.3:17 And whatever you do or say, let it be as a representative of the Lord Jesus, all the while giving thanks through him to God the Father.3:23 Work hard and cheerfully at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.4:2 Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.4:5 Live wisely among those who are not Christians, and make the most of every opportunity. When you feel weary in your prayers, know that God is present, always listening, always acting - maybe not in ways you had hoped, but in ways that he knows are best. May the peace of God be with you. _9:44 am_[fathfulonly2him] More Colossians 1:8 He is the one who told us about the great love for others that the Holy Spirit has given you. ** 1:9..........We ask God to give you a complete understanding of what he wants to do in your lives, and we ask him to make you wise with spiritual wisdom. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and you will continually do good, kind things for others. All the while, you will learn to know God better and better.** 1:11 We also pray that you will be strengthened with his glorious power so that you will have all the patience and endurance you need. 1:13 For he has rescued us from the one who rules in the kingdom of darkness, and he has brought us into the Kingdom of his dear Son. 14 God has purchased our freedom with his blood, and has forgiven all our sins. 1:15 Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. 1:20........He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of his blood on the cross. 21 This includes you who were once so far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from by your evil thoughts and actions, 1:22 yet now he has brought you back as his friends. He has done this through his death on the cross in his own human body. As a result, he has brought you into the very presence of God, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault. 23 But you must continue to believe this truth and stand in it firmly. Don't drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News.People should be able to see a difference between the way Christians and non-Christians live. Still, we should not expect instant maturity of new Christians. The Christian life is a process. Although we have a new nature, we don't automatically have all good thoughts ans attitudes when we become new people in Christ. But if we keep listening to God, we will be changing all the time. As you look over the last year, what changes for the better have you seen in your thoughts and attitudes? Change may be slow, but your life will change significantly if you trust God to change you. _9:11 am_[fathfulonly2him] Colossians 1:4 for we have heard that you trust in Christ Jesus and that you love all of God’s people. 5 You do this because you are looking forward to the joys of heaven - as you have been ever since you first heard the truth of the Good News. Changed**** Wherever Paul went, he preached the gospel - to Gentile audiences, to hostile Jewish leaders, and even to his Roman guards. 6 This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world. It is changing lives everywhere, just as it changed yours that very first day you heard and understood the truth about God’s great kindness to sinners. Whenever people believed in the message he spoke, they were changed. God’s Word is not just for our information, it is for our transformation! Becoming a Christian means beginning a whole new relationship with God, not just turning over a new leaf or determining to do right. New believers have a changed purpose, direction, attitude, and behavior. They no longer seek to serve themselves but to serve God. In what areas has hearing God’s Word changed you life? Where should it do so? Current Mood: cheerful (Comment on this)

_1:22 pm_[fathfulonly2him] Philippians: 1:6 And I am sure that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on that day when Christ Jesus comes back again.1:10 For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until Christ returns.1:29 For you have been given not only the privilege of trusting in Christ but also the privilege of suffering for him. 2:3........Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourself.2:14 In everything you do, stay away from complaining and arguing, 15 so that no one can speak a word of blame against you. You are to live clean, innocent lives as children of God in a dark world full of crooked and perverse people. Let your lives shine brightly before them. 3:2 Watch out for those dogs, those wicked men and their evil deeds, those mutilators who say you must be circumcised to be saved. 3 For we who worship God in the Spirit are the only ones who are truly circumcised. We put no confidence in human effort. Instead, we boast about what Christ Jesus has done for us.3:9 ....... I no longer count on my own goodness or my ability to obey God's law, but I trust Christ to save me. For God's way of making us right with himself depends on faith. 3:13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I am still not all I should be, but I am focusing all my energies on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us up to heaven.4:6 Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.4:13 For I can do everything with the help of Christ who gives me the strength I need. Current Mood: Joyful (Comment on this)

_4:17 pm_[fathfulonly2him] Calling all Christians: Please can everyone respond. If you agree with an answer don't just not respond, please just say I agree.Okay, today I was volunteering at my godchild's school getting bags of pre-ordered/paid goodies together to distribute to classes. I'd say it was 8 volunteers there. The conversation was getting gossipy and a lot of cursing was going on. Praise God that I'm not a curser and rarly gossip. Well I tried to change the subject. That didn't work the conversation jumped right into the same gossip and cussing. I ended up checking unsuccessfully in every place possible to find something to do in the downtime. I found a chair on the other side of the stage to sit in and began praying for them. I stayed there alone for about 20 mins maybe? My question is, How would ya'll have handled this situation? What would be some better ways or ideas that I maybe could have brought the situation to glorify Christ? Help! I do plan on returning. I believe that I upheld my Christian character, but I want and need to witness to them.In Christ,Kristal x-posted Current Mood: okay (4 Comments |Comment on this)

_5:36 pm_[fathfulonly2him] Need Faith? Read Hebrews. Hebrews Chapter 10: 32 Don't ever forget those early days when you first learned about Christ. Remember how you remained faithful even though it meant terrible suffering. 35 Do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord, no matter what happens. Remember the great reward it brings you! 36 Patient endurance is what you need now, so you continue to do God's will. Then you will recieve all that he has promised. 37 "For in just a little while, the Coming One will come and not delay. 38 And a righteous person will live by faith. But I will have no pleasure in anyone who turns away." 39 But we are not like those who turn their backs on God and seal their fate. We have faith that assures our salvation. Chapter 11: 1 What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see. 2 God gave his approval to people in days of old because of their faith. 6 So, you see, it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants go come to him must believe that there is a God and that he reward those who sincerely seek him. Faith enables Christians to face trials. Genuine faith includes the commitment to stay true to God when we are under fire. Endurance builds character and leads to victory. You can have victory in your trials if you don't give up or turn your back on Christ. Stay true to Christ and pray for endurance. He will never grow tired of supporting you. 1. The bible says discipline is necessary for growth. See Hebrews 12. 2. If someone were to ask you, " Why should I take obedience to God so seriously?" How would you respond? **3. Would your life reflect the answer you would give?** Please, one of Satan's biggest lies and most successful is, "You can do it tomorrow." My friend in Christ, we are never guaranteed another day. Hebrews 3: 12 Be careful then, dear brothers and sisters. Make sure that you own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God. 13 Tiy nyst warb each other every day, as long as it it called "today," so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened against God. 14 For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ. 15 But never forget the warning: " Today you must listen to his voice. Don't harden you hearts against him as Israel did when they rebelled." Current Mood: grateful (Comment on this)
