C: ''Sail Away, Sail Away'' (reference style) by toiletpaper-pack on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

Okay, I'm writing a kind of critique on this. I'm not sure if this is supposed to be entirely anatomically correct
or if it's stylized. I suppose it'd be useful to find out more about this character because it kind of looks like a
cross between a maned wolf, and maybe a grey wolflet or a coyote. If it is, indeed, a cross between a maned
wolflet and a coyote or maybe some kind of wolf, then the paws just need to be a tad bigger, and the ones
the farthest away from the viewer should be made a little smaller. Actually, the back paw in the background
is more normal a sized already. The tail seems kind of stiff looking, but otherwise it's not a ridiculous length
like most of the other wolf ocs that I see.

If it isn't a cross between anything, and just a wolf, then its legs are too long. It's not by much, If you just
shortened them to the first or second ring on the leg from the top, then it'd look more like a wolf. Since this is
just a reference sheet, and most people don't add shading or highlights or what have you to their characters,
I'm not going to elaborate on it. If the mark on the eye is a scar, I would consider drawing it with more definition
of the hair around it and opting for something more like the character's skin color, under the fluff, or at least
something a little lighter or darker depending.

If you need help with scars, you need refs, ect, Google is your best friend. I have some resources, too, if you
want them, but otherwise it's a pretty decent character.
lighter.
