Mt Washington (original) (raw)

We made it. It took us forever and a day because by the end there was a pulled muscle and an acting up hip joint and general omg tiredness, but we made it.

I do not remember what i thought from the top of the mountain last time. it was about 10 years ago.

this time... the usual thoughts of how insignificant we all are, how majestic nature is and so on filled my mind as usuals. and by the time we were at the actual summit, mostly i just wanted to get down off hte mountain and into some nice place for dinner.

But something like 0.12 miles from the summit, where i could see it just fine, and new that it was just one tiny push more, i turned around, as i had bee doing for a bit, to look down.

one Flicker posts this, i will go and change the default icon of this post to be the one that says "stand before god" because i was. it was one of those moments that people write about. i had it before, several times. a moment where with no doubt and no unsurety i know that not only does god exist but he is focusing attention on this mountain and on me right now, for a tiny brief part of a second, god was there.

so yes, it is a mountain. it is damned tall, and it was a relatively difficult hike. and we did it, with minimal whining, and minimal injuries and minimal drama. i am very very proud of ladysprite, this was her first real hike, and that is quite an accomplishment.
