_9:38 pm_[lorenandrew] | Transgender Research Study There seems to be a trend with this community :).Hi Everyone,I am a member of the transgender community, and graduate student in experimental psychology at Towson University. I am conducting research on thoughts about gender identity for my Master’s thesis, and currently recruiting people to take an online survey. To participate you must be 18 years or older and identify as transgender (this includes anyone who considers themselves on the transgender spectrum).Study information:A transgender person’s thoughts about their gender identity may help researchers understand ways in which a transgender person conceptualizes and processes their identity. This study seeks to develop a way for researchers to reliably interpret differences in how a person views their gender identity. The online survey takes about 15-20 minutes to complete and asks you to rate how often you think about certain things. This study has been approved by Towson University's Institution Review Board for the protection of human participants. Please follow the link below to complete the survey and feel free to pass this link along to any friends who you think may be interestedThanks,Andy (Comment on this) |

_1:55 pm_[slmvideo] | Research call for cis partners who remained with FTM through transition Relationship Satisfaction of Partners of Female to Male Trans MenHow do I qualify? Are you 18 or older? Are you a partner of a female-to-male trans man or a female to male trans man who is partnered? Have you been in this romantic relationship before he transitioned (however you define transitioning) and are still in the relationship now? In order to qualify for this study you (the non-FTM partner) must be at least 18 years old and have not or do not plan to make a gender transition. Your FTM partner must also be at least 18 years old. Research participation is restricted to those who are living in the United States, or international participants who can speak and read English and are willing and able to use Skype. We are especially attempting to recruit partners of color as well as cis-male partners of FTMs, but all cisgender partners are welcome to participate. Who is doing this and why?Rebecca Keo, a partner of Colt Meier, a trans man, and a person of color, is conducting a research study on the romantic relationships of trans men. She is an undergraduate student at the University of Houston studying Psychology and LGBT studies. The results from this study will be used for her Undergraduate Senior Honors Thesis. The purpose of this research is to help inform researchers about romantic relationships that persist through a gender transition of an FTM. This study examines the non-FTM partner’s unique experience as they witness their partner’s transition. What do I have to do to be a part of the research? The study consists of an online questionnaire, which should take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours for both partners to complete separately. The questionnaires will assess basic demographic information as well as relationship satisfaction, physical and psychological abuse, and alcohol dependence. Upon completion of the questionnaire, the non-FTM partner will be asked to participate in an interview regarding your romantic relationship and experience through his transition. The interview will also last approximately 1-1.5 hours. Both partners must read and agree to the consent form before filling out the survey and participating in the interview. This study has been reviewed by the Committee for Protecting Human Subjects at the University of Houston. How do I get started? If you would like to get more information or to participate in this research study, please email Rebecca at rlkeo929@gmail.com with the subject line: Partner of FTM Research. From there, she will ask you a few questions to make sure that you qualify, and then send you the consent form to look over. If you would still like to participate after reading and signing the consent form, she will send you a link to the online surveys, one for each partner. After you both fill out the surveys, then Rebecca will work with you to set up an interview time for the partner of the FTM (via phone or Skype). x posted everywhere on LJ, FB, and listservs (Comment on this) |

_4:11 pm_[queerunity] | Join the Tribeca Protest Over "Ticked Off Trannies" Film A demonstration against the Tribeca Film Festival's choice to feature the movie "Ticked Off Trannies With Knives" will take place in NYC tonight. The movie promotes transphobia and makes light of the rape and violence all too often directed at transwomen. In addition to the offensive title of the movie, the film portrays transwomen as being performers.http://queersunited.blogspot.com/2010/04/join-tribeca-protest-over-ticked-off.html (Comment on this) |

_12:33 am_[slmvideo] | FTM Research Survey on Vocal Satisfaction Thanks to all who participated in my thesis research survey last year. The manuscript for my thesis study on the sexual attractions of FTMs is currently in preparation and I will be posting the final draft when it is accepted for publication. In the meantime, my colleague Vica is a linguist from Rice University in Houston and she is interested in studying the voices of FTMs. Here's her survey. It took me 9 minutes to complete."My name is Vica Papp and I am a speech scientist at Rice University, Houston, TX. My PhD research concerns the voice experiences, vocalhealth, and vocal satisfaction of all transmen and FTMs. In order to better inform the transgender, medical and academic communities about the speech-related experiences, concerns and needs of transmen and FTMs I created an online questionnaire. The time required to complete the questionnaire is about 20 minutes and all FTMs and transmen over 18 years old are eligible to fill out the questionnaire _regardless of testosterone use_. Your answers are completely confidential and encrypted. For the survey please follow the link belowhttps://www.survs.com/survey/XKDPGW7WQTPlease encourage other transmen and FTMs to fill out the questionnaire.Thank you for your help,Vica Papp, MSc., MA., MA"Hope you're well!Stacey Colt Meier, M.A.Clinical PsychologyUniversity of Houstonxposted everywhere (Comment on this) |

_1:28 am_[para_success] | why do you like trans guys? Hi all. I'm working on a personal project and looking for some feedback from any/all guys attracted to ftms. This is not school related, and does not involve anything that might become public information in any way. I have four pretty basic questions to answer. I will be happy to tell anyone who wants to respond about the project in more detail. Email me- profanetheater at gmail. Thanks! Edit: This is not the question, this is just a request for people willing to answer a couple questions that I would send you in email. (xposted a bit) (3 Comments |Comment on this) |

_8:15 pm_[toys_for_t_boys] | toys. hey there. The reason I am posting this here is because in the last few years these lj communities have done nothing but good for me, so this is me giving back.First, a bit about me..I am currently 1 year and 6 months into medical transition. I take 100 mg of injectable testosterone every ten days. I am 3 months post chest reconstruction surgery. Since starting on hormones my entire sexual world has opened and my likes/dislikes have changed completely. With my ever changing body I am more in tune to explore and that's why I am here.. to share my experiences. Basically I took another job up.. testing out sex toys. I have created this on-line journal in order to post about toys I have tested in order to broaden a perspective from someone who identifies as FTM. There are many sex toys out there and the growing trans community seems to be at a loss as to what might better work for their bodies and minds. I would like to be another voice in the mix to help people who might need a reference. If you'd like to add me ([info]toys_for_t_boys) please feel free. I promise I wont fill your page with loads of crap, as I really only do about 3 reviews a week. Usually under cuts as to not take up too much space. anyway, I hope my reviews help in your search for the perfect toy!ps. I just got started on this project so there really isn't much to read yet.x-posted. Apologies if you see this a few times. (Comment on this) |

_10:20 am_[queerunity] | FTM Surveys Jamison Green the former President of FTMInternational is interested in the sexual health and satisfaction of all trans men, whether or not they have had hormones or surgery, and in the experiences of their partners. Two surveys are available for trans men and their partners to help with the research. He will use the data as raw material for a book, tentatively entitled "The FTM Guide to SEX," plus academic presentations and journal articles to educate medical and therapeutic service providers about trans lives. _8:05 pm_[slmvideo] | Colt's FTM Thesis Survey! Update Hey guys,Based on preliminary results from the first study (over 500 guys, y'all rock!), I am now running a modified version of this study which is also looking into childhood gendered experiences (still has IRB approval). The new study is hopefully also easier to navigate. The good news for you is that if you wanted to participate, but were unable to because I closed the survey, you can participate now. Even if you already participated, but wanted to re-take it or elaborate on your answers and want to be included in the new dataset (and yet another prize drawing!) you may participate again! Your participation will enter you into the drawing for the grand prize of $250. The results will be presented in the poster session at WPATH (formerly the Harry Benjamin Society) this summer in NorwaySo basically, if you've already taken the survey last month, please re-take it...and if you never got around to taking it the first time around, please take it. Thanks guys! Please send questions or comments directly to me: ftmresearch@gmail.comcross posted everywhere, please pass this around to your FTM friends (Comment on this) |

_7:19 pm_[new_kinda_freak] | Hey :) Hey everyone,A very happy new year to you all!My name is Imogen, I live in Cambridge UK. I was born female and am happy with my body but consider my self Gender Queer. I came out as gay at 14 (nearly wrote 144!!) and have been with my partner for a number of years now.I am a photography student in Cambridge and I am just about to go into the final term of my 3rd year. I have covered quite a few topics over the last three years including self harm, mental health, eating disorders and physical disability. You can see some of my work here: Flickr or my own web site here: Indigo Clouds PhotographyThis term I want to do a project surrounding 'Gender Queer' and 'Transsexuality'. So I am looking for people who might want to be involved in the project. I will be hoping to photograph a few aspects of the topic including things like: following someone through aspects of their transition, photographing people with their families, following people to Dr's appointments, visiting and photographing both home & work, doing some studio shots (including partners, with/with out make up, in underwear etc) .. For helping me out you would get a copy of your images on a disk, a copy of your favorite 5 printed up to A2 and many many thank yous from me!Having dealt with subjects that are often unknown to family members or friends I am more than happy for people to remain anonymous. As you can see from my self harm images most participants don't have their face in the images. I would like for some of those who wish to take part to be able to have their face in the images, purely due to the nature of the project.I don't have any money to pay those who take part but I could help with travel costs if people are on a low income and I am more than happy to provide accommodation in the form of the sofa in my front room! Please feel free to contact me with questions, anything you might like to know. Also, feel free to pass this post onto friends who might not see it on LJ or even to other communities. I would also like people to take part in a survey that will be part of the final project so if you would like to receive that you can get in touch. Finally, during previous projects people have contacted me suggesting that aspects of the project might be highlighting the 'wrong' parts of the issues. I warmly welcome this contact and can only understand the subject to a point with out this source of information. My contact details:E mail - Imogen.Jo@Gmail.comMobile - 0754 99 33 030LJ - New_Kinda_FreakThank you for reading,Kind Regards,Imogen May Current Mood: artistic (Comment on this) |

_4:59 pm_[thiefcore] | Cross posted, only so I can get the word out Hey guys, I don't know if this is allowed, but I made a new group for transmen in the BC area, so it would be easier to set up events and meetups to have fun, and possibly make friends with people who know what you're going through. It's for facebook, and here's the linkIf you know anyone who might be interested, that'd be cool if you passed it on. I have no trans friends here on the island, and I'd like to make some connections so I don't feel so alone on this less traveled road. Thanks again. (Comment on this) |
