CAMH experiences [Mar. 4th, 2013|12:10 am]Trans Toronto
Is anyone here going to CAMH? I was told by my doctor that I have to go through them to get a hysterectomy procedure approved. I don't need to get it done right away but the approval might come handy in the future when I am ready for it. I have heard horror stories about them and would rather not have to deal with then if I can.

My new FTM YOUTUBE Channel! [Apr. 19th, 2011|08:57 pm]Trans Toronto
hello!im ryan, and im ftm! yah i just wanted to post about my new youtube channel, where im trying to set up a place for people to talk about ftm everyday issues. Ive set up a few videos already and am open to ideas to make new videos. one of the more important reasons for doing this was because i felt that the lgbt community has a way of excluding queer people of color, and being hispanic myself, i identify with this feeling. i havent seen much out there based on these issues and thought maybe this could be a place for some of that to be spoken about.well heres the channel check it outhttp://www.youtube.com/user/ryanrendon1?feature=mhum

(Pride Toronto) Trans pride open meeting: Tomorrow! [Apr. 5th, 2011|03:39 pm]Trans Toronto
The Pride Toronto Trans March co-coordinators would like to invite community members and organizers to join us for the second Trans March Committee/Community Meeting of 2011.As the first meeting, this meeting is open to EVERYONE. We want to continue hearing your feedback and concerns about the trans march, stage, afterparty and space. We are going to focus on other important aspects as well- budget, mandate of the committee, etc. As co-coordinators we are dedicated towards creating transparency around the organization and implementation of Trans Pride. A detailed agenda will be available before the meeting at the “Pride Toronto Trans March 2011” facebook page and blog (www.transpridetoronto.wordpress.com). Please “like” this page for up-to-date information. We will also be emailing and posting the agenda and outcome of the meeting. If you would like to be added to our mailing list please email us.We encourage those unable to attend the meeting to offer feedback/ concerns/suggestions via email to transmarch@pridetoronto.com.We would love to hear from trans and gender variant people about the specifics they would like to see included in Pride. We have no interest in continuing the history of tokenism and exclusion that has been the experience of the trans and gender variant community thus far. We do need your help by volunteering your ideas and time and/or being on the committee so that we can accomplish everything we as a community need and want out of the festival.**It is mandatory for individuals attend THREE committee meetings to become a Committee Member** Committee members can vote at Pride Toronto general meetings.Trans March Committee Meeting519 Church Street Community CentreWednesday April 6, 20116pm-8pmRoom 204Thank you,Pride Toronto Trans March Co-coordinators

This is awkward. [Mar. 26th, 2011|10:05 pm]Trans Toronto
I need to find a doctor that "fixes" trans people. You see, my parents have been giving me a lot of flak for being trans for uh, 4 years. It's been stressing us all out. My latest idea was for us to all go to a therapist to try and talk more functionally about the whole thing. We went once and my mom decided it's not what I need. She said she wants me to find a doctor to help me "feel more comfortable as a girl". I couldn't believe it-- I've literally made zero progress with them in four years. I'm really way past that option, but I didn't want to hurt her so I said okay. I'm out of ideas anyway. Maybe if I can convince a shrink that's on her side that I'm better off being trans, it will convince my mom.Can anyone recommend one of those doctors, besides Zucker? (We've already been to him, and my parents hated him.)

The 410 (Sherbourne) [Feb. 8th, 2011|12:44 am]Trans Toronto
So I relatively recently came out to my fam and a large portion of my friends which has being going as well as can be expected, but was having difficulty figuring out where to go next. My family doctor does not want to touch HRT with a 20 foot pole, not through prejudice, but his own inexperience with it, despite the pdf I had already pulled from the Sherbourne Center's website. In any case, The 519 was extremely helpful in getting me in touch with somebody who then put me on the trail of 410, which, after picking up and putting down the phone several times, I finally mustered up the courage and called. Now, I have an appointment in March with one Dr. Man, and I was wondering if anybody has had experiences there, good or bad. Or even if anybody has seen that particular doc before. I don't know what to expect and I'm pretty shaken up at this point.
