I posted a couple of weeks ago asking about safaris (thanks again to those who responded!), and here I am again with more questions.

We've decided on visiting Kenya, and adding a short trip to Zanzibar. My big issue right now is that, I'm looking at 2 different itineraries.

One includes Amboseli National Park
One includes Samburu Game Reserve

So my question is, does anyone who's been to both Amboseli and Samburu have an opinion on which one is the better to visit?

As an amateur photographer, Amboseli appeals to me for the obvious reason of the Kilimanjaro backdrop. But I've also heard really great things about Samburu.

Also, does anyone have any idea what the drive to and from Samburu is like? I heard it was something like 8 hours, so that could be a factor in our choice.
