ALBURY DEFEAT RUTHERGLEN.

In spite of the fact that rain fell

in Albury shortly before three o'clock

on Saturday, a kept many people from

going to the match, there was a fairly

large attendance at the sports ground

to witness the game between the above

teams. The gate receipts amounted to

£48, and many members' tickets -were

sold as well. The ground was in capi

tal order, and a new carpet of young

Hume Weir played their firet game

on their new ground, the Wodonga

Park, on Saturday, when they met and

defeated- Wangaratta. The PaTk is

ideally situated, being only two

minutes' walk from the Wodonga Post

Office. The ground was in perfect

.order, although, the right hand corner

near the west goal had' been covered

with sand and 'made the going in that

portion heavy. __, The Park, however,

both in condition and situation, is far

superior to'thxT Wodonga racecourse.

ST. PATRICK'S DEFEAT COROWA.

St. Patrick's journeyed to Corowa on

Saturday, and. after a closely contested

game, won by a margin of 22 points.

The game was exciting. At no stage

was there u, big margin between the

two teams, and many hard knocks were

given. The play of both teams was

good,, and Corowa fully lived up to its

reputation of being a hard nut to crack

?on its. own ground. Final scores: — ?

BENALLA DEFEAT BEECHWORTH.

Beautiful weather, and a splendid

ground favoured the visit of Benalla

to Beechworth on Saturday afternoon,

and local patronage was most, satisfac

tory. Beydnd the players and officials,

very few persons undertook the jour

ney by train, though ' several cars es

sayed the journey. The match was well

contested. At times a little te-mper was

displayed between players, .but Umpire

Holden held control all through, and

had a steadying influence. Compared

with tihe match against the Hume Weir,

Benalla showed improvement. Final
