ANOTHER CHAMPION OF SECOND

AN interesting letter from Sgt. James

A Cardwell (A.I.F.), 'Somewhere in

Australia,,' arrived at this office during

the week. Prior to enlistment Sgt. Card-:

well was a former president and secretary

of South Melbourne C.Y.M.S., and was a

well-known debater. In his letter he eays:

'I enjoy reading 'The Record* very much,

particularly the manner in which you

defend the Second Eighteen, Howard

Thomas, who manages the team, should .

be gratified. Howard is well known to me

as I am on the committee of Melbourne

Second Eighteen, being also a delegate to

the League Second Eighteens, where 1 .
