This paper deals with the problem of efficient distribution of communications and streaming servi... more This paper deals with the problem of efficient distribution of communications and streaming services in large National telepresence infrastructure (NTI) via Slovak Academic Network (SANET). Performance of such large heterogenous telepresence infrastructure can be limited not only by hardware resources utilization or network bandwidth but also with software cloud licensing limitations. After problem analysis we designed and implemented new NTI service booking system with ability to prevent high NTI resources usage. Research results are in form of integration of mechanisms of identification of critical nodes in specific booking time and mechanisms for proper technology resources balancing and effective license capacity distribution based on each service request. Proposed solution has been experimentally implemented in productive environment of NTI portal and it is currently used by research community resulting hundreds of conferences and live streams.

The ambition of the testing was to find out a level of Analogously to the previous two years, it was comprised of two tests — one for respondents over the age of 15, and another for pupils and graduates of elementary schools. The scientific contribution presented in this paper is focused on the test results from the elementary schools.

In this paper the method for extraction of selected human body features, particularly dimensional... more In this paper the method for extraction of selected human body features, particularly dimensional units, is presented. The key parameters we focus on are the total human body height, arm length, leg length, shoulders distance and head height. Prototype software solution utilizes Histogram of Oriented Gradients (HOG) and Haar classifiers algorithms. The analysis of existing object detection approaches in the image is carried out. Following this analysis, the suitable approach is selected, while bearing in mind the software prototype requirements. Further, the methods for extraction of human body parameters are presented and specific details of implementation are described. Prototype of the application enables specification of selected human body features having the output values close to the real dimensions of human body.

Detailed description of the electrocardiogram itself serves as a ground for building the proposed hardware and software solution. The software implementation is in a form of both, Mat-lab environment, and own application. Final output enables retrieval of the actual data in real time and further and provide the rudimentary diagnosis. Utilization of such device is for self-home diagnosis of arrhythmia.

Opisuje najpoužívanejšie prístupy merania sieťových parametrov ako aj charakteristiky, ktoré sa pri monitorovaní najčastejšie sledujú. Hlavným cieľom tohto príspevku je predstavenie konceptuálneho návrhu riešenia opísaných problémov, ktorý by sa mal docieliť automatizovaným prispôsobením exportu záznamov o tokoch prevádzky k aktuálnemu stavu siete.

The main goal of TEMPUS TecTNet project is to support the process by improving preparation of qualified experts working in the field of innovation and technology transfer at Moldovan universities and agencies. The paper presents the project, its main goals and achieved results in the fields of education and establishing infrastructure for cooperation among universities and industry in Republic of Moldova. The main focus is on developed master course, which is one of most important outcome of project.

The principal goal of this paper is the development of the experimental software solution for the... more The principal goal of this paper is the development of the experimental software solution for the extraction of dimensional unit from the uncalibrated image. Existing techniques are analyzed and also partially utilized in presented approach as an aid in the extraction process. The design of two different approaches was proposed, these were later implemented and tested. Proposed methods cover utilization of homography matrix, vanishing points and vanishing line. Developed system allows to determine the dimension of any object in image based on the value of reference dimension. Proposed software solution was tested in laboratory and real-world environment.

This year, the testing included two independent tests - one for the pupils of elementary schools and second for the respondents over 15 years. In our research we evaluated data from young people from 15 to 30, mainly students of secondary schools and universities who filled in the latter test. We tried to track down development of IT skills and knowledge during the secondary school study and to compare the results for particular school types and school grades.

This paper introduces deployment, operation and technological challenges of project named Nationa... more This paper introduces deployment, operation and technological challenges of project named National telepresence infrastructure to support research, development and technology transfer in Slovakia (NTI), which was managed by Slovak Centre of Scientific and Technical Information. NTI is effective collaborative environment with not only videoconferencing ability but it dispone also live broadcast functions, recording to multimedia archive or automatic conference booking system. Overall infrastructure consists of core layouts, web platform and over two hundred collaborative endpoints, which will be described in solution design. After one and half year of pilot operation the NTI shows trends of usage among research, development and innovation institutions. The paper shows also examples of real usage of live broadcasts ability of NTI.

In this paper, the development of XML schema of newly proposed Human body description format (HBD... more In this paper, the development of XML schema of newly proposed Human body description format (HBDF) is proposed and further, the software solution for processing the anthropometric parameters of the human body is presented. The analysis covers information on the HBDF format and specific measurement procedures that are associated with the format and together form a coherent structure for the recording of such data. The structure of the format itself is implemented as XML schema, determining the content of XML outputs. Experimental software solution is designed and proves valid in the examination of HBDF structure. Schema ensures the data coherency and integrity, while the proposed solution ensures the import, operation, and export of data. The XML schema was experimentally tested as a part of multiple research projects.

Main goal of this paper is a system created for the purpose of disaggregation appliances from the... more Main goal of this paper is a system created for the purpose of disaggregation appliances from the energy profile in the households and the evaluation of unusual activities carried out in a smart home appliances with the help of self-organizing maps (SOM), or individual model views for educational purpose. The paper focuses on the analysis of existing methods and techniques of the problem. The core of the paper is the study of the various methods of disaggregation and describes the uses of the disaggregation of existing systems. After the deep investigation of issue, the next step is to select two different methods of disaggregation, which will be implemented to achieve the objectives of the paper. Second part of this paper is evaluation of activities can be achieved by calculation which is dependent on the models views, or by SOM, which is learned from standard activities. Evaluated by this unusual activity appliance. The system is controlled through a simple graphical user interface. This paper was created as learning model for using describe method to programming in various language.

National project “IT Academy — education for 21st century” supports the development of IT industr... more National project “IT Academy — education for 21st century” supports the development of IT industry through the changes in educational system at primary schools, secondary schools, and universities. Proposed innovations enhance the quality of education in IT, mathematics, science, and related technology areas that have as the main focus ICT. Further, they improve the motivation of pupils and students to study informatics and ICT, and help to develop scientific abilities of both, pupils, and students. Following the requirements of IT sector, in the 5 to 8 years the project aims to adjust educational system to educate 1000 new specialists, as compared to the current state. Project activities are designed for min. 24 000 pupils of primary school, min. 9 000 pupils of secondary schools, min. 3 000 students of universities and min. 1 800 teachers of primary and secondary schools from all over the Slovakia, except for Bratislava self-governing region. IT Academy as a sustainable system for education and training of specialists, recognizing the demands of IT industry, is based on market and IT sector requirements. It incorporates also the partnerships of all subjects within Slovakia that co-create the system itself — i.e. IT companies, universities, secondary school, primary school, self-government, and other subjects. Partnership with IT Academy is established in form of contract or memorandum of cooperation, giving the entity status of “IT Academy partner”.

We construct a category of type representations for signaling and handling exceptional conditions of simply typed lambda calculus. Consequently, the proposed approach is implemented in functional programming language OCaml.

Almost two hundred sites located mostly at Universities were equipped in 2015 with latest videoco... more Almost two hundred sites located mostly at Universities were equipped in 2015 with latest videoconferencing devices and connected to one national network. This was covered by national project named National telepresence infrastructure to support research, development and technology transfer (NTI). This paper presents technological challenges behind, integration of hardware and software solutions in multi-vendor environment, problems faced and results after one year of usage. All technical and organizational work was covered by Slovak Centre of Scientific and Technical Information in Bratislava. This project had to fight with more problems, not only of technological nature, but mostly with providing help to end users allowing them to see advantages in new way of collaboration and changing the way they think and work. Implementation has brought fully new custom web based services designed and created based on experience with academic institutions and feedback gathered after project launch.
