The Latonas - "Protoro" | [05 Oct 2011|08:11pm] |
---|---|
The Latonas’ video “Protoro” starts off foggy, but then it becomes crystal clear that this group really rocks and is powerful and professional. With a crazy great drummer pounding the beat, the new millennium has arrived in the form of alternative rock and this group is on the cutting edge of it. The guitarist and drummer really deliver a standout performance along with the lead singer. “Protoro” is a fast paced video and shows the group doing a live performance in a high energy show that is second to none along with their message. Watching the video gives you the sense that alternative rock has found its place, and the Latonas are definitely earning their spot in it out in front and right on top. This is what alternative rock in 2011 is all about. You’ll love the song and video if you have enough energy to keep pace with them, but even if you can’t, you’ll have a great time trying!Website: http://www.thelatonasband.com/The Latonas - "Protoro"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gis1mKhbRdQ | |

Chinese Songwriters Are Mad and They Ain't Going To Take It Anymore | [22 Jul 2011|03:22pm] |
---|---|
A fair amount of fuss was made regarding Music Copyright Society of China's (MCSC) announcement that it had reached an licensing agreement with Baidu, China's top online infringer of copyrights. MCSC even announced that they had received their first royalty payment from China's largest search engine (Yes, Baidu is like merging Google with the old Napster). Finally, a major breakthrough that should please everyone, especially Chinese songwriters, right? Not quite. On the same day MCSC made their announcement, famous chinese songwriter and producer Xiaosong Gao posted an open letter on his sina blog titled "A letter to my colleagues of the Chinese Songwriters Copyright Alliance." He was joined by several songwriters such as Xiao Ke and Yadong Zhang in launching the Chinese Songwriters Copyright Alliance (CSCA) a couple of days earlier to fight the egregious copyright infringement by Baidu and negotiate on behalf of songwriters not represented by MCSC. Within days, CSCA soon attracted hundreds of new members. Xiaosong Gao established MaiTian Music, which used to be China's largest record label, and now lives in the Los Angeles where he works in film and music sector. He also served as Director of Entertainment for SOHU.com, one of the most popular portals in China. So Gao certainly has a stake in what happens in China on the copyright front, the credibility to speak out and understanding of China's online market.By Eric de Fontenay this article was co-written with Xingyue PengRead more at http://mi2nmusicpr.livejournal.com/50565.html | |

BLACK DAWN, Long Island's Hardest Alternative or Metal Rock Band? | [15 Jul 2011|03:16pm] |
---|---|
BLACK DAWN is a group of four musicians, a faithful road manager, an ever-growing legion of fans (ranging from rowdy adolescents to toothless old men and women), a respect and appreciation for the sound of silence, and a suitcase full of aggressive and passionate hard-edged music. The original incarnation of BLACK DAWN was created in 1992 when Tom Kelly hooked up with a local Long Island bass player, and once formed the band decided to name themselves as appropriately as they could, utilizing a name that deep down described their heavy, morbid, and intense music quintessentially. "We needed a name that is not happy, because the songs are not happy. This was the most unhappy name we could think of. For us, it implies an absence of hope. I suppose that, in a way, it recognizes those who are in a bad situation and know that they are not going to get out of it."Originally intending to have the band be a hobby, over the years it has evolved into a very serious affair. "At first, it was probably just to be able to use and improve whatever musical ability we have. The shows would be a chance for us to party with our friends. We've kept the band going all this time because it is our art. It is what we would rather be doing instead of our jobs."By Andrew MarlesRead More at http://mi2nmusicpr.livejournal.com/48279.html | |
