This paper presents the dependency of collector efficiency on the radial dimensions of the multi-stage depressed collector. In addition, an approach to reduce the radial dimensions of the collector without significantly compromising the collector efficiency using external magnetic field in the collector region would also be presented.

It is observed that volume component is similar in both the decompositions. However, this component is over-estimated as compared to odd and even bounce scattering mechanisms for all land cover targets. The supervised maximum likelihood classification has been performed in this paper. Apart from this, the same area was also monitored using optical remote sensing imagery. An overall classification accuracy of above 85 % is observed using hybrid SAR and optical data.

It is a valuable cucurbit having many pharmacological properties viz. anti-inflammatory, anti- diabetic, anti-analgesic, anti-epileptic, hair growth-promoting and abortifacient. In the present study, methanolic fruit extract was screened to identify the presence of active phytoconstituents. Photochemical screening of the extract was carried out for the presence of various phytochemicals as per standard methods. Phytoconstituents analysis was carried out by GC-MS (Thermo scientific) and spectrum of unknown phytoconstituents was compared with the phytoconstituents stored in NIST library of GC-MS apparatus. Phytochemical screening of fruit extract of CC has shown the presence of phenols, flavonoids, steroids and glycosides. GC-MS chromatogram of methanolic fruit extract of CC revealed 14 different peaks which confirmed the presence of 14 different phytoconstituents with th...

OBJECTIVE Artificial modulation of peripheral nerve signals (neuromodulation) by electrical stimu... more OBJECTIVE Artificial modulation of peripheral nerve signals (neuromodulation) by electrical stimulation is an innovation with potential to develop treatments that replace or supplement drugs. One function of the nervous system that can be exploited by neuromodulation is regulation of disease intensity. Optimal interfacing of devices with the nervous system requires suitable models of peripheral nerve systems so that closed-loop control can be utilized for therapeutic benefit. APPROACH We use physiological data to model afferent signaling in the vagus nerve that carries information about inflammation in the small intestine to the brain. MAIN RESULTS The vagal nerve signaling system is distributed and complex; however, we propose a class of reductive models using a state-space formalism that can be tuned in a patient-specific manner. SIGNIFICANCE These models provide excellent fits to a large range of nerve recording data but are computationally simple enough for feedback control in i...

Research paper thumbnail of Dump slope stabilisation through revegetation in iron ore mines in Bonai Iron ore range: a review

The revegetation program that can be used for slope protection and erosion control is considered ... more The revegetation program that can be used for slope protection and erosion control is considered as a long-term solution for land reclamation. Revegetation helps in restoring the productivity of soil by reducing soil erosion and protecting soil from further degradation during land reclamation. There are several approaches to revegetation, such as coir matting, plantation of lemon grass, vetiver grass and local (host) plants, which may be used effectively to stabilise iron ore mines dumps. The plantation of local plants through the Miyawaki method has been found more effective than the conventional methods of plantation. This method involves plantation of a number of local (host) plants, such as Karanj (Ponganna Pinnata), Shisham (Dalbergia Sissoo), Neem (Azadirachta India), Sal (Shorea Robusta), Kendu (Diospyros Melanoxylon), Amla (Phyllanthus Emblical) Jamun (Syzgium Cumini), Banyan (Ficus Benghalensis) and Krishnachura (Delonix Regia), closely spaced in a dump slope or small pit.

This makes researchers interested to study the hybrid polarimetric SAR data for various remote sensing applications. In this paper, backscatter signals and scattering decomposition from hybrid polarimetric Radar Imaging Satellite-1 (RISAT-1) SAR data for various land cover targets have been studied. Even though SAR transmits right circular polarized signal, the return RADAR signal may be partially polarized (which means sum of completely polarized and un-polarized signal). The RADAR return signal and scattering decomposition varies for different land cover targets depending on the geometrical, structural and electrical properties of the target under consideration. Here, Stokes classical parameters are used to study the RA...

The variation of horizontal and vertical length of L-strip has been investigated in circular disk patch antenna. The bandwidth of the antenna is found inversely proportional to the horizontal length of L-strip whereas it is almost invariable with vertical length of L-strip. Typically the bandwidth of this antenna is found to be 16.63 % with maximum gain of 8.515 dBi. Further L-strip proximity fed U-slot loaded disk patch is studied. In this geometry bandwidth of the antenna increases up to 37.01% when the vertical length of L-strip is 6.5 mm but there is marginal effect in the bandwidth with the variation of horizontal length of L-strip. Gain of this antenna varies from 8.195 dBi to 7.015 dBi for the entire operating frequency band. Radiation pattern of both the antennas is stable across the operating band.
