The CW has renewed a swag of its favourite youth-skewing titles today including Supernatural and Charmed.
Supernatural will be back for an impressive 15th season.
The Charmed reboot will head to a second season. Both screen in Australia on 10 Peach.
It also renewed titles which screen on Foxtel and Netflix: Arrow, The Flash, Riverdale, Black Lightning, Legends of Tomorrow, Dynasty, Legacies and Supergirl.
“This season, we expanded our primetime schedule to six nights with the addition of Sunday — which has been an unqualified success for the network, our affiliates and our advertisers. In addition to growing our schedule across the week, we also continue to add more year-round programming. The early renewal of these signature CW series gives us a head start on laying out the 2019-2020 season, and this is just the beginning,” said The CW president Mark Pedowitz.
“These shows provide a strong foundation for our multiplatform programming strategy, and we look forward to building on this with even more returning and new shows as we approach the May upfront.”

- Love Supernatural. So glad it’s coming back. And 15th season. Very impressive.
- Season 15 for Supernatural – unbelievable!
Hell, what else can this show do?- Errr…not launch a successful spin off, but that’s mostly down to how few people survive being a friend or ally of the Winchesters over any length of time.
- So glad Dynasty will get a 3rd season…has become so much fun!
- The Brothers: Still kicking it after 14 seasons…
- Crazy. It was on the air during the original run of Will & Grace!
- I used to watch the original series of Charmed a lot, however, the novelty wore off after a while as it was the same predictable outcome in almost every episode. The sisters would fight warlocks, demons and wendigos and they would usually win by the end of the episode. There’s nothing wrong with that. It’s just that I found it too predictable. There’s a void for a supernatural themed show based upon actual occult theories, rather than faux magic and fantasy. Magic fiction is hugely popular though, going by the success of fantasy fiction, such as Harry Potter.
- Yeah I had the same problem with Ghost Whisperer with Jennifer Love Hewitt, at least say in Medium other things happened around them and at times there was no resolution, but Ghost Whisperer was just too predictable.
- If only CBS10 could get the rights to the ones on Foxtel and Netflix what a difference it would make to 10Peach for the audience it is trying to skew towards.
- Don’t think Foxtel would give up the rights to it’s CW shows. They pretty much make up almost all of the lineup that they’ve got for FOX8. No way Netflix would either.
- Probably not however who knows at contract renewal time, CBS may pull a Disney and say that CW shows will no longer be on Foxtel and Netflix, of course they’d have to get AT&T (via Warner Bros) who are the other 50% owners of CW to agree to that, so yeah not likely I guess.
1. I think streaming ended shows/seasons works a bit differently to first run deals on streaming or actual TV. I don’t see any existing CW shows moving from Foxtel or Netflix to 10 but new CW shows are most likely going to end up at 10.
