  1. We’ll probably never know for sure, but I wonder how many of Carols In The Domain’s 707k viewers were in Sydney/NSW compared to the rest of Australia?
From memory, previous years have given us metro ratings that’d suggest Seven would possibly be better off treating CITD like how Nine does with Brisbane’s carols: Primetime in the home city/state only, but a random daytime and/or 7TWO national screening sometime before Christmas for those who *really* want to see it.
Anyway, last night’s telecast of Carols in The Domain was definitely closer to a truly live telecast (eg, the “Live” watermark was used) than previous years when you’d still see a fair amount of light outside on TV after the sun had well and truly set all over Sydney.
Last night still had a few pre-recorded segments though, and I definitely wonder how many “What?” and “Who?” reactions there would’ve been from interstate viewers to Sydney Weekender presenter Candice Dixon and her mostly product placement-infused bits!
  2. I would love to know what channel 7’s definition of live is. Carols were delayed by 20 minutes. They were not live.
  3. Odd that near the end of the carols it cut out & then they came back to finish up & said nothing about it.
    1. That’s because it had already finished. You were watching a recording from 20 minutes earlier.
