Twin Spica (original) (raw)

If you haven't noticed already, the newly released volume 7 contained Missions 36–38 and an extra "Another Spica". These chapters are originally in volume 8 of the Japanese release.

I took this up a couple weeks ago with Ed Chavez, the marketing director of Vertical, who then confirmed via Twitter that they will be publishing Twin Spica in 12 volumes. This means volumes 7–12 are in mini-omnibus format, compiling more chapters into each volume.

Although I'm excited that we'll get to see the story's ending faster, I have mixed feelings about this. Looking at the Random House (Vertical's distributor) catalog, it seems the cover art is scheduled to continue as it did in the Japanese releases. The exception is volume 11's cover, which is actually the Japanese volume 14 cover. With only 12 volumes, this means we'll never get to see

4 of the original covers. Here's to hoping Vertical will keep the final volume cover the same.

I'm actually impressed that Vertical is able to keep the price point on volume 7–10 at 10.95eventhoughthey′re5010.95 even though they're 50% thicker. You can see that volume 11 will add even more pages, making the volume 400 pages thick! That's when the price goes up to 10.95eventhoughtheyre5013.95.

Anyways, enough with my rambling. Thoughts?
