In this context, this research is focused on analyzing the relationship between desirability and feasibility on university student's intentions to create a new firm in Catalonia. A structural equation model supported by Krueger & Brazeal's Model was tested with different groups of students. The main results reveal most of university students consider desirable to create a new firm, although the perception of feasibility is not positive. Also, there is a statistical significant and positively relationship between credibility and the intention to create a new firm.

We distinguish savings banks (Cajas) from the rest of banks, mainly commercial banks, and compare both their decision to securitize or not, and the volume of securitization. Asset securitization seems to play a key role at explaining both the sector exponential growth and the deep crisis that followed. Due to the special nature of Cajas, we focus our study in these institutions, highlighting the role of some factors, such as the regulatory capital and the risk transfer. We find that those banks with greater credit risk exposure and lower liquidity are more likely to securitize, and they do it in greater amounts during the boom (pre-crisis) period. In contrast, we do not find a significant role of capital in terms of securitizing. Furthermore, for the specific case of Cajas, the only significant determinants are risk and liquidity.

This study develops and tests a model where market orientation (MO) is an antecedent of entrepreneurial orientation (EO), EO is critical to innovation success (IS), and MO and IS are important drivers of new venture performance. Moreover, our results suggest that with respect to new ventures, learning orientation does not moderate the relationship between strategic orientation and performance outcomes.

This work presents an efficiency assessment of public elementary schools in Andorra, a little country where there are three public educational systems (Andorran, Spanish -congregational and non congregational-, and French). Therefore, the aim of this study is to compare the efficiency of public elementary schools among the three different educational systems existing in Andorra. The methodology used to measure the efficiency of the educational process in this study is the DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis), a nonparametric frontier method, introduced by Charnes,

This attraction demands a reliable instrument for the calculation of future stock prices of regional companies. This study examined the reliability and validity of the Ohlson Model to predict Latin American stock prices through an empirical application of a panel data analysis of 1,112 companies from this region with data from 2002 to 2009. The findings identified the countries in Latin America where the model can be used successfully.

Transaction costs arguments are often used to justify the introduction of hierarchical controls in collaborations, but the ownership dimension of going from “contracts” to “hierarchies” has been ignored in the past and with it the so called

Many of them, especially Spanish savings banks (or Cajas), had to merge with other institutions or had to be rescued. We address the question of up to what point the nature of competition in this sector has changed as a result of the crisis. Although institutions compete in many ways, we concentrate on their presence in the main street through bank branches open to the public (i.e., retail banking competition). Our measure of inter-firm rivalry is based on a geographical proximity measure that we calculate for the years 2008 (before the crisis) and 2012 (the last available data set). The technical approach is based on multidimensional unfolding, a methodology which allows us to graphically represent the asymmetric nature of such rivalry. These maps visualise the salient aspects of the system during the two dates analysed, and can be understood without a detailed technical knowledge.

In contrast, less liquid and less profitable commercial banks are more likely to securitize and they do it for larger amounts.

More concretely, its general goal is to draw attention to this potential: the possibility of better examining this process -and developing a more accurate explanation of it -by encouraging future writers to consider the consolidated contributions of four major streams of research in the international business literature: FDI theories, the stage models, entry-mode research and the network approach. Some relevant conclusions and implications are derived from this holistic approach.

More concretely, we aim to shed light on the type of factors and specific conditions underlying the emergence and further expansion of born-global exporters, as compared to other counterparts, which do not share their rapid internationalising character from inception. From our cross-comparison of four firm cases investigated in this setting against a number of factors generally associated with the born-global or gradual internationalisation paths, our results indicate that both constitute two consistent and distinctive patterns of international development. Another relevant finding in this research is that born globals seem indeed to be more entrepreneurial regarding their export entry behaviour into foreign markets than gradual exporters. Relevant academic, managerial, and policy-making implications are also outlined from these results.
